As we don't know the sex we've come up with a few for each. I'm not sure about all of them (some DH is keener on than me) but I don't dislike them strongly and we struggled to find many names that one or other of us didn't hate. Surname is pretty ordinary, two syllables beginning with R.

Ellen
Bethan
Cecilia
Josephine (Josie)

Sebastian
Daniel
Joseph (see a theme here?!)
Alistair

So which do you like most/least? Hopefully you won't all hate all of them as I think we'd struggle to agree on anything else, but looking for feedback on things people don't like as well as do like. Thank you!

Bethan and Joseph are my favourites...

I love Sebastian but hate Seb, hence I think I will have to rule it out...
Cecilia is lovely, and I really like Bethany too...

telsa · 03/01/2013 12:40

Bethan is my favourite. Followed by Josie.
Of the boys - Joseph and Daniel.

PlainoldWitchesTit · 03/01/2013 12:47

Love Cecilia and Joseph, I think Joe is one of the most gorgeous boys names there is.

Ellen and Bethan seem a little dour to me, the others are all okay. Good short list!

Pasiphae · 03/01/2013 13:31

The best: Cecilia and Josephine (but nickname Finn or Posey).
And Alistair for a boy!

I like Ellen the least and Daniel for a boy. I mean they're nothing wrong with them but they rather boring .

glorious · 03/01/2013 13:42

Ooh Joseph seems to be coming out top for the boys then. It's probably my favourite as well Smile. Nice to see a vote for Josie too telsa.

janey I'm not sure about Seb either, and Sebastian is an awful lot to say every time isn't it.

witches interesting on the girls' names, thanks. Ellen/Bethan had never struck me as dour but I can see what you mean, they have quite hard sounds at the end and Ellen especially is quite plain.

In this order:-

Ellen
Josephine (Josie)
Cecilia
Bethan

Sebastian
Joseph (see a theme here?!)
Daniel

Alistair

glorious · 03/01/2013 13:49

Cross posts.

Pasiphae I like Posey for Josephine (for a child at least), thanks! I wondered if Alistair was a bit old man. I do know what you mean about Ellen/Daniel (especially Daniel as it's used that much more).

Ellen - like it
Bethan - love it, it's a tie with Cecilia for my favourite of your girls list
Cecilia - love it
Josephine (Josie) - not a fan

Sebastian - like it, but it's a bit long and I don't like Seb either
Daniel - like it, like Dan too but maybe a bit boring
Joseph (see a theme here?!) - my favourite on your boys list
Alistair - not a fan

Cecilia and Sebastian are my favourites.
Bethan and Alistair least favourite.

Bas would be an alternative nn if you did not like Seb.

glorious · 13/02/2013 10:51

So in the end we went for Ellen Cecilia. Thanks all for your thoughts.
