DH and I are just starting to think about names me like for baby due next year, we won't be finding out the sex so will need both. Help me by suggesting names to bombard him with this evening after work!

Surname is double barrelled and long, a boy will have my maiden name as a second middle name.

We both seem to like 'safe' 'classic' names but I don't want to be boring and would like a bit of a classic name that's slightly different - if that makes any sense at all. I'm quite concious of the name not being too long, or at least having a nice shortening as I have a long first name that can't really be shortened and it's a pain with the surname.

So far i've suggested boys:

Cameron, Elliot, Isaac, Benjamin and Caleb

Girls:

Isla, Jessica, Megan, Imogen, Zoe and Leah

Throw your ideas at me (and DH) Xmas Smile

Elliot, Lewis, David, James, Harry

Kecia, Grace, Esme,

RuckAndRoll · 20/12/2012 15:10

Lewis, David and James are out for family reasons. Harry is vaugley talked about, it's a possible.

Not sure about the girls names, I think I like Esme but not sure he will.

Wasn't Harry THE number one name last year... there are thousands of them out there.... in our beavers group we have 3 Harrys, two of which share the same surname initial (annoying for everyone!).

I like Cameron, Elliot, Caleb or how about Dominic, Quentin or Raphael for boys?

For girls I like Jessica and Leah or how about Catherine, Antonia or Clementine?

RuckAndRoll · 20/12/2012 15:43

We're in Scotland where Jack is number one, but yes that is something we're aware of, the name keeps cropping up in chats but neither of us have actually written it down yet.

Catherine is a no go for family reasons too. I don't like Antonia, but Anthony is now on the list! Boys are so much easier than girls to name.

Teddy for a boy or a girl......

RuckAndRoll · 20/12/2012 16:12

Wow Gwennan thanks! I shall edit your list slighty then go through it with DH later on (need to remove a few I know he likes but I hate!)

See in my head I have Leah Helen for a girl and Cameron Alexander for a boy. DH isn't sure so we're starting from scratch to see if there's anything we both love but I'll be subtly working on him for Leah and Cameron

I like Cameron but don't think I'd use it currently, considering Old Bacon Face.
Like Isaac and Ben too. Don't like Caleb.
