Which other girls names might I like?

We have two boys names we really like but struggling for a girl.

So far shortlist is

Julia/Juliet
Katharine (Kitty)
Eleanor/Helena
Esther/Hester
Rebecca
Rosalind
Meredith
Isolde (perhaps a bit brave but I like it!)

So you can probably tell I like quite historical/classical/literary names. Any more ideas appreciated, none of the above are leaping out above the others as THE one. (I have a DD already, interested to see if people come up with her name Smile)

Thanks!

Emma is a classical/literary name. It's not as exotic as the ones in your list though.

chicaguapa · 14/12/2012 17:40

And Imogen.

Some great suggestions, thanks!

I like Emma a lot but I'm put off by the number of people I know of my generation with it. Tess is definitely along the right lines but a bit similar to my name; Viola I like but worried people will be forever pronouncing it wrong; Linnet is gorgeous, I am assuming it is pronounced like the bird rather than lyn-ette?; Genevieve is pretty, Gwyneth is nice but makes me immediately think Paltrow...

Looking at them I think I don't want anything too long and exotic unless there is a short nn, because DD has a quite short name.

The thing that niggles me about Meredith is that it is also a boys name and means something like 'great lord' which might not be appreciated in the future...

Argh... baby names are so much fun until you are actually pregnant and then the pressure's on!
