Jarvis, Iggy Wolfie - please suggest names in a a similar vein

I am 100% decided on Jarvis for our third son, however the husband is 100% set on Wolfie (Wolfgang full name).

I think we need to find an alternative which suits us both so at least we can go to the hospital with each of our names, plus a name we each like.

Parameters are:

  • musical link (e.g Jarvis Cocker, Iggy Pop, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)
  • not made up or a musician's last name (like Jagger)
  • fits with his brother's names - Theodore and Felix

I'm really not after critiques of the names Jarvis, Iggy and Wolfie, just alternatives in the same vein. Many thanks :)

I was only saying to DH last night if we had another DS I'd call him Jarvis (we were watching Pulp, and I may have been a little starry eyed, but I stand by it!).

SanityClause · 09/12/2012 09:31

Can I just say that if a man had referred to his wife as "the wife" on here, he would've been roasted alive!

What about Sebastian (JS Bach) or Ludvig (von Beethoven)?

Freddie

Bluestocking · 09/12/2012 09:47

I've included conductors, on the basis that they are musicians too!
Gustav (Mahler) or Gustavo (Dudamel)
Franz (Liszt)
Igor (Stravinsky)
Lucian/Luciano (Pavarotti)
Thelonius (Monk - probably too similar to Theodore?)
Miles (Davis)
Claudio (Ribero)
Zubin (Mehta)

I love Lucian - I know Pavarotti is not "cool" but it's a beautiful name IMO and goes wonderfully well with Theodore and Felix.

Hehehe sanityclause, I think it's a little of today's demeanour showing through - I'm 26 weeks pregnant and got up early while he napped until 10:30am, did washing, got everyone brekkie, lunch AND dinner... while he napped from 4:30pm to 6pm. No nap for me and I get to get all the food for the family just like a regular week day. Not happy!

Will run some of these by him - many thanks!

My DS is named Nicky, after Nicky Wire from Manic Street Preachers. What other bands/singers do you like? (I love Jarvis, by the way!)

popsicle1984 · 09/12/2012 18:18

I think Otis goes well with Felix and Theodore too.

Allalonenow · 09/12/2012 18:18

Sebastian would go well with Theodore and Felix.

Django?

luanmahi · 10/12/2012 10:23

Not sure. My husband wanted Wolfie for a boy and Flame for a girl; that way they wouldn't have to change their ames when they're famous rock guitarists. He even referred to my bump as Wolfie for a while but I managed to steer him clear in the end. Wolfgang is Eddie Van Halen's son's name aparently. Have you tried googling other rock stars to find out what they have named their children to get some ideas (obviously giving things like Moon Unit a relatively wide berth)?

Littlecherublegs · 10/12/2012 12:16

Am liking Cole, Haydn, Otis and Axel.

Or:
Elvis
Gene
Reed
Sonny
Buddy
Tito
Elton
Manfred
Moby
Gram
Trent

Or apparently Apollo is the Greek God of music??

StellaNova · 10/12/2012 12:53

Syd (Barrett)?

fairieswearboots · 10/12/2012 22:39

Stone ( Gossard, Pearl Jam)

Guthrie ( Guthrie Govan, or Woody Guthrie)

Geddy (Lee)

Slash - well, maybe not, but how about Saul?

Miles ( Davis, or Myles kennedy)

Arlo and Django good

bringbacksideburns · 10/12/2012 22:43

I like Syd!

I knew someone who called her son Bon after Bon Scott. It really suited him.
