Surname beginning with Z quite a funky one. What do you think?

Elspeth. Love it!

Emmy sounds llke a nickname rather than a full name.

Eliza plus z surname might be too many z' s

DebK2012 · 07/12/2012 18:49

Like Esme! Grin

Beamur · 07/12/2012 18:52

I'd say Esme or Elspeth (Emmy does sound nn-ey) I actually prefer Eliza (fab name) but without knowing what your surname is would wonder how it would sound.
Nothing against Martha either.
All lovely names.

elpth · 07/12/2012 19:08

I'm an Elspeth and recommend it! I've met a few over the years and they all love being Elspeth too. Other names are lovely too though, good choices!

MolotovCocktail · 07/12/2012 20:58

Esme: would you be putting an accent over the final 'e'?

PurpleTinsel · 07/12/2012 21:01

I like Esme and Elspeth best.

Alisvolatpropiis · 07/12/2012 21:51

Would you be saying Ez-may or Es-mee? Big yes to the latter, big no to the former.

Elspeth is lovely and so unusual!

LimeLeafLizard · 07/12/2012 21:55

I vote Elspeth! I used to know one as a child and she was lovely.

40thisisit · 07/12/2012 21:57

Martha, Martha or Martha sounds perfect x

Startail · 07/12/2012 22:25

Esme with a z surname good get a bit zzzzy.

Elsapeth is lovely and I think better with a z surname.

Emmy to me is a pet name for a little Emma or Emily.

forgetmenots · 07/12/2012 22:33

Martha is by far my favourite and Emmy/Esme my least favourites.

Eliza depends on your surname in case the repeated z is too much, and I love Elspeth but again the 's' and 'th' then 'z' is difficult to judge!

FWIW I also like Esther, might work with your name?

baskingseals · 08/12/2012 11:10

Eliza for me. gorgeous name.

Martha always reminds me of hearth and earth. also hand-maiden cinderella type. much prefer Marta, more elegant.

DeekeyDoo · 09/12/2012 20:44

Love them all. How about Elsie as well?

smother · 11/12/2012 13:19

All lovely. Also what about Elizabeth? Then could have lots of lovely nns, like Lizzie, Elsie, Beth, Betty?

EssieW · 11/12/2012 13:22

All nice. Particularly like elspeth. Also Elsa a nice alternative

EllenParsons · 11/12/2012 23:17

Martha! Gorgeous name.

notMarlene · 11/12/2012 23:18

Elsapeth or Elspeth.

Mathilda?

notMarlene · 11/12/2012 23:19

Nice eclear post there Hmm Meaning I'd choose either of the two E names from what's mentioned in the OP and by PPs.

MikeLitorisHasChristmasLights · 11/12/2012 23:20

Eliza.

Just because I have one and I love it!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 11/12/2012 23:22

Martha or Marta

recall · 11/12/2012 23:22

Oh Elspeth please....do it for me, my husband wanted a different name and I lost Sad It would have really suited her too.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 11/12/2012 23:31

Elspeth or Eliza. Envy is a nickname and I know a few Martha's and esmes.

Eggs · 11/12/2012 23:48

What about Esmay?

newby2 · 12/12/2012 07:44

Hello ladies,

What a mixed bag. Still can't decide but will see what the baby looks like I think. We've also added in Flora just to be more confused. Thanks for your opinions!

Emmy is a nickname not Envy. Envy would be a weird choice Xmas Grin
