4 wks to go a really stuggling to find a boys name we both like..help!!

the only name we both like is Alexander.

The only problem is that i'm not in love with it. Does it matter?
Other names we sort of like are George and Reuben. That's about it!

I am a teacher so have a lot of trouble with names! I don't want any boys names beginning with J! (although there are some lovely J names). I also don't want anything too popular which rules out Harry which I love!

I don't mind slightly unusual names but hubby is def more traditional than me! I like Lucas but he thinks its faddy?!

Any name help would be brilliant.

Maybe when the little un arrives you'll be inspired. I didn't use the name I'd chosen for the youngest of my 3 sons, he was going to be an Archie, but turned out to be a Charlie! Good luck with your new baby, no matter the name.

Alexander is nice and you can always call him Xander for short if you like it like that.

Reuben is a fantastic name too.

I agree with Justmuddling and see how you feel when you meet him.

I was in your exact position. Alexander was really the only name we both liked. I really preferred Edward shortened to Teddy or Samuel. When DS2 arrived he felt like a Ted to me. It took me a really long time to stop thinking of him as Teddy.

But now I love the name. I think its really classical and I love how it sounds and looks. I call mine Alecky or Alexi [or Puffin or muffin or Lexigon].

Yes - we were the same as you. Our DS is 6 days old today.

Pre him bring born, I loved Rory but DH hated it. We could agree on Guy but I didn't love it.

DS was born and looked nothing like a Guy. However, he did look like a James do we called him that as that was on a very early short list. We waited about 36 hours before deciding which I thinki k is fine. I do think babies do appear looking more like one name than another, which helps.

DH is a dentist and we had similar probs with him having serious name association issues with patients!

However, I would try and add to your short list a bit if possible - even with names you may not be absolutely 100% sold on. I was ambivalent re Janes pre birth and now I love it as it is DS' name

I agree about having more names on the shortlist - I am frantically trying to find some!! I am hoping something will just come to me once the baby is born (it might be a girl - in which case we are ok!)

I do really like Alexander - i'm not sure why I cant love it but i'm sure as soon as we've named bump- whatever the name - it will become them and I will love it then. i'm not too bothered about having a name ready for as soon as its born but I dont want the decision to go on for weeks!

Well the other names we were considering were Alistair, Prentice (!! DH choice), Andrew (DH again), Edward, Edmund, Sydney, Samuel. I liked Harry but a cousin already had it for her baby. Also liked George and Gerard.

Well I'm biased. My DB is called Alistair and my ex is called Andrew

Gerard I really love. My dog is called George (but at least that shows that its a lovely name)

Well my two gorgeousnesses are Fergus James and Leo Alexander.

I'm in the same boat!

Alexander is the only name we agree on but I don't love it.

I think maybe because I'd never thought of it before and it's sniped on from nowhere.

Wheremymilk - I like Benjamin but my SIL is due a few wks before me and that is there first choice for a boy! I like Noah - it was a contender early on so maybe might come back to being one!

Yulebrynner - two of the names u suggested are DH and FIL! lovely but I don't want to use family names.
