We have finally chosen our shortlist, please let me know what you think, which you prefer and whether you know any:

Henrietta nn Hettie

Love all of them except Mariella. Not keen on that. Love all the nicknames. Nickname for Mariella? Mari, Mimi, Ella?

MolotovCocktail · 30/11/2012 13:31

I love Mariella (there's another tread today that aske about the name, which you might want to check out). A said , I also love Ella, Mimi and also Marnie.

Bak to your question: my fave is Mariella, followed by Charlotte (particularly with Lottie as the NN), then Henrietta (I like Etta as the NN here, and Etta as a stand-alone name).

Least of all is Katherine. I find in plain/beige/boring.

MolotovCocktail · 30/11/2012 13:33

I know one 12yo Charlotte, NN Lottie and she's so lovely

I know lots of Katherines/Catheries (my age - early 30s). And my God, they're dull! Apologies to and MN ladies with this name. I know I'm making a sweeping statement and mean no offence

MistletoeAndTomHardyPlease · 30/11/2012 13:34

lottie or kitty

bigbluebump · 30/11/2012 13:48

I love Mariella! Lovely, classic, feminine and sounds great in all languages. And not overused!

Second choice would be Charlotte - also feminine, classic but a little more popular.

Third is Henrietta, although I'm less keen on Hettie.

Last, and a little dull and overused, would be Catherine/Katharine (she'd also spend her life correcting the spelling....)

RobinDude · 30/11/2012 13:49

Charlotte nn Lottie.

I'm not biased at all Wink

I quite like Henrietta nn Hetti but I prefer Harriett with the nn Hattie.

shoobidoo · 30/11/2012 13:53

I like Mariella and Henrietta the best. Charlotte is ok but I agree that Katharine is quite dull/boring.

I'd not worry about nicknames yet at all - they evolve and often end up as something completely different Smile.

I like Kitty and Lottie, I prefer the full name Charlotte to Katherine though...

Leafmould · 30/11/2012 17:21

Prefer Harriet to henrietta, nn hattie. Other names not really my cup of tea.

Mu1berries · 30/11/2012 17:22

Hettie - no, don't like it at all
Mariella is nice, I prefer Marielle though. That's really nice actually
Lottie is nice. I liked it ten years ago.
Charlotte I don't like at all. Sounds like Shallot. Charlie is better.

Kitty is a bit feline and childlike. It's ok I guess but it's bordering on silly. A bit insubstantial for a woman. Cute on a little girl perhaps. She 'd have outgrown it by 7.
Catherine /Katherine, no just a bit too crusty and dull to use but they're safe. I don't dislike them.

Allalonenow · 30/11/2012 17:31

Mariella with nn Mimi or Ellie
Henrietta with nn Hettie
are my favourites.

Charlotte is very popular, and I don't like Catherine at all.

Hi
Obviously as ive started another thread on here about it I do love Mariella. Its my fave out of your list, although I do like pp suggestion of Mariella. I like Mari (mar-ee) as a nickname but also like ella, ellie, and marnie is super cute for a little girl actually.
Then prob Charlotte, Lottie is lovely but i think becoming quite popular as a first name now.
Katherine - for some reason I find this so much prettier than Catherine. I would nn Katie though don't like Kitty.
Sorry Henrietta Is really not my taste personally but if you like hettie maybe you like hattie and like Harriett as a suggestion.

Got to say though Mariella is a different league the other three, all nice names but I dont know its so much prettier isnt it!
I think the other three are a very similar type of name but Mariella, I dont know I guess Id group it with names like Isabella and Marina, or Arya and Allegra maybe.

Thi is my biggest problem as my DC are Freya and Oliver!

lottiegarbanzo · 30/11/2012 22:33

I agree with krankykitty

steppemum · 30/11/2012 22:45

the first thing I thought when I saw your post was Hello Kitty. Which is massive. But then I saw it was nn, so you can change it around.

There is a Kitty in reception, and it is starting to feel like a babyish name I think
