Annabelle, Annabel or just Anna?

DH came up with Annabel for DC2, and I'm so stunned by his sensible suggestion that I feel l need to think it through properly! I do like it, it sounds nice with surname and with the middle names we have set on. But I just know I would call her Anna, and wonder if that's the case, why not just call her Anna and be done with it! But Anna sounds a bit clunky with the middle names. DH also then said about the belle ending but I do think that is too frilly, and I don't really like belle or bella as a nn. So thoughts please! DD1 is Evie Molly Ella, and we deliberately didn't give her a longer first name as we thought it would only be used for telling her off.

Annabel Alice Kate
Anna Alice Kate

Thanks!

I think Anna Alice sounds better than Annabel Alice actually, I would go with Anna.

Another vote for Anna :)

Bert2e · 28/11/2012 16:20

Anna - far too many Annabel's around!

FriendofDorothy · 28/11/2012 16:26

I love Anna, but then again it is my name :)

Devora · 28/11/2012 16:27

Anna is the best by about a million miles.

I love Anna Smile

YouCanBe · 28/11/2012 16:35

Anna for me too!

MolotovCocktail · 28/11/2012 17:12

I don't like Anna. I don't think it flows at all well into Alice, either - to much 'a-a-a' sound.

If you like frilly and girly, fo or Annabelle. If you are less inclined to girly, go for Annabel.

She could be NNed Bel/Belle, no necessarily Anna.

TheWave · 29/11/2012 10:50

Much prefer Annabel, I know a few and they are never called Anna. Strong but female name.

ZZZenAgain · 29/11/2012 10:58

Prefer Anna to Annabel but agree that Anna Alice doesn't run together very well. Really though, how often do you say the whole name? Usually we just use the first name anyway.

Alisvolatpropiis · 29/11/2012 11:44

Prefer Annabel to Anna.

Annabel Alice flows really well,Anna Alice does not.

Also,I've only ever met one Annabel (in her teens) but have know and met loads of Anna's.

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 29/11/2012 12:50

I prefer annabelle, think it sounds prettier IMO.

HenriettaChicken · 29/11/2012 12:52

Anna.

But I'd change Alice. It doesn't flow.

Anna Kate ?

HenriettaChicken · 29/11/2012 12:53

Or even Anna Kate Alice. That works much better!

ZZZenAgain · 29/11/2012 13:00

Anna Kate Alice is quite nice

spottywelly · 29/11/2012 13:03

I love Anna. Totally would have had it for DD if it hadn't have meant kicking off WW3 in the family.

WockComble · 29/11/2012 17:41

Annabelle was the name I had lined up for DC2, but he's going to be a boy so I probably won't now.

Think Belle is a lovely abbreviation, and if she wants to be all posh and grownup she can use the full version.

Annabelle Alice = gorgeous

SomersetONeil · 29/11/2012 17:48

Annabel for me - I'd love to like the name Anna as I usually love classic timeless names, but it's so dull. Sorry to any Annas or Mums of Annas out there, it's just my opinion and no bearing on the name at all.

Annabelle to too OTT.

HoratiaWinwood · 29/11/2012 17:57

Annabel

More flexible and prettier. -belle is too frilly though.
