Does this girl's name pass the cleaner, teacher, high court judge test?

I like the name Cassie after seeing it on this board and am seriously considering it for DD1. I don't really like Cassandra and I find Cassia a bit too fussy. I see Cassie as a diminutive of Catherine in the way that Katie is but don't want to use Catherine itself.

Do you think Cassie is a name that suits a person from any walk of life and also stands the test of time? My main criteria for choosing a name are that it's timeless and won't put DD in any kind of box.

I think it does! It's a lovely name, but I have to say I think of "Cassandra" and not Catherine when I hear it.

I think it's ok, but I'm not really a fan of names that sound-like-nicknames unless you have the 'proper' name on her birth certificate.

I'd use Cassandra, nn Cassie, and then I think it's lovely.

If you like Cassie, what about Cressida, nn Cressy? I'd never heard the name Cressida until I worked for one, and I think it's lovely :)

I think it's nice, I know a kassia but she's always called kassie for some reason, both are nice.

I think Catherine to Cassie is a bit of a leap.

I dislike Cassandra for mythology reasons.

It's a nice name for a bouncy, friendly dog.

Not sure about tests and how a name passes one, but if you like the name, use it. As for the nick name business, jack has been a top favourite name for ages and was a nickname originally, what does it matter?

I know of a Cassie, full name Catherine.

It's a lovely name. I like names that can't really be shortened and Cassie can't be shortened or it would sound silly. At the end if the day it is your choice. Go with what u feel comfortable with and what you think sounds nice

Just to add i wanted to call our daughter Connie, which is seen as a shortened name, but the other half wasn't too keen so we went for Esme which recently found out is seen as short for Esmerelda. So no harm in using shortened versions of names as their original name.

It passes all my tests.

I think you could get away with Cassie as a nn for any name that started with a 'Ka' sound.

I know of Cassie as Cassidy. Not that giving you another name is helping you

It's a lovely name. If Cupcake Brown can be a lawyer names don't hold you back.

It's not that I don't like names ending in -ie/y, it's just when a name is quite clearly a nickname it seems odd not to have the full name too- eg I'm not a fan of Ellie, Katie, Tilly etc as given names.

But I don't have a problem with names like Daisy, Molly, Holly etc as they sound like full names to me- if that makes sense?!

I know a Caroline who goes by Cassy.

It's lovely and I think works as name in its own right.
