What do you think of Bean as a boy's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

If you live in New Zealand that's how they say Ben. It makes me laugh.

RancerDoo · 21/11/2012 20:30

Is it really? Is bun on there too?

OscarPistoriusBitontheside · 21/11/2012 20:30

Baked, Heinz, canellini, kidney, shall I go on?

SavoyCabbage · 21/11/2012 20:31

Grin that's what I thought Lottie.

On my dd's first day of school she told me she had been playing with medicine at lunch time. After swooning I realised it was Madison.

Pochemuchka · 21/11/2012 20:38

Erm, even Courtney Love was only brave enough to use this as her DD's middle name.

BOFingSanta · 21/11/2012 20:40

It sounds like you didn't actually get around to thinking of a name. It's pretty much the informal word for fetus, isn't it?

AKissIsNotAContract · 21/11/2012 20:40

Makes me think of Kurt Cobain's daughter. I think it works more for a girl than a boy.

timetosmile · 21/11/2012 20:42

Have you ever read Fantastic Mr. Fox?
Or seen the Rowan Atkinson series?
Doesn't appeal to me, I'm afraid

TeaBrick · 21/11/2012 20:42

Is it on the name finder because you've just put it on, op?

JimmysMum1988 · 21/11/2012 20:42

Mr Bean

LittleDonkin · 21/11/2012 20:43

Its my sisters middle child's nickname. It stuck from when she was pregnant.

izzyishavingababyAGAIN · 21/11/2012 20:46

Is this serious - it's not a name

MoelFammau · 21/11/2012 20:58

My DD goes by the name Bean, or Lil Bean to be accurate. Her real name is Robin.

GrimmaTheNome · 21/11/2012 21:01

Perhaps its pronounced to rhyme with Sean? (anyone else have trouble with Sean Bean...I either read it as Shaun Baun or Seen Been)

scottishmummy · 21/11/2012 21:06

as a cutsey wutsey pre-birth name, well i know the right on mums do this
as an actual name ghastly, twee, and just no

Callipygian · 21/11/2012 21:35

Theres a character in the Ender Saga (by orson scott card) called Bean, although i think its a nickname.

gobbin · 21/11/2012 22:13

Oh. I've just called one of my kittens Bean. He's ginger and looked like a baked bean. Are you likely tomhave a redhead? Could be awkward lol!

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 21/11/2012 22:16

Absolutely. Especially if your last name is Salad.

ClareMarriott · 22/11/2012 08:18

Carolinchina

If you named your child Bean, would he be able to carry it all through his life ? Possibly not .

Catsmamma · 22/11/2012 08:20

It's your hormones dearie!

Bearcrumble · 22/11/2012 08:29

DD2 is called Bean......

....By those who know and love her. Everyone else knows her as Nancy. Grin

SorrelForbes · 22/11/2012 08:44

My DSiS's BIL and wife gave their DS the middle name Bean (their nickname for the baby whilst she was pregnant). The family took the piss, a lot.

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 22/11/2012 08:52

Cute name. For a small dog.
