I adore the name Nina, think it sounds so feminine and pretty, but my sister thinks it sounds like a granny's name..DH thinks it's okaaay.
Any thoughts?

I love it :) Wish I had called my daughter that.

Riddo · 18/11/2012 22:36

I think it's a lovely name

Shesparkles · 18/11/2012 22:38

I love it- dd had a nursery nurse called Nina and she adored her, and she wasn't at all granny like

Alisvolatpropiis · 18/11/2012 23:22

It's lovely. I've only ever met one Nina, she's in the 23-25 age bracket. Would never have pinned it down as a granny name!

Likeaheadlesschicken · 18/11/2012 23:27

I love the name, I may have used it for my PFB... only heard positives about it, and we haven't met another child with the same name. Go for it, I'm sure you won't regret it!.

Dontbesodramatic · 19/11/2012 00:05

I have a Nina. She's is beautiful, calm and kindSmile

MulledWineOnTheBusLady · 19/11/2012 09:47

It's not grannyish. Florence, Lily, Rose, Daisy etc are grannyish (though I like them), and Nina doesn't fit in with them at all. I'd be surprised if it was used much at all in the UK before maybe the 1960s/70s.

dieciocho · 19/11/2012 13:44

I love it, but DP has vetoed it. Not sure why.

I like it. It makes me think of Nina Carberry - who has succeeded in a man's field!

turkeyboots · 19/11/2012 16:02

I know a baby Nina, but to me its a 30 year olds name as I went to school with loads of Nina's.

I love it, it was on my shortlist for dd3 - didn't go with it in the end but think its a lovely lovely name.

PaperBagPrincessIsMyIdol · 22/11/2012 15:16

I love it, DH wasn't so keen and we've now got a Nia (Welsh for radiance) which suits her perfectly. My DM also thinks Nina is an old lady name!
