looking for something unusual and elegant for DD3

No Cornish heritage here, but I love the look and sound of Endellion.

What says the Mumsnet jury? (ps obv I know, but don't care about, about the Cameron usage...)

Made me think Endymion then Dandelion.

How about:
Estella
Della
Fenella
Esme

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 12/11/2012 01:25

...Enmeline
Clementine?

mathanxiety · 12/11/2012 01:32

I really like it.

(Far nicer than Florence)

GrimAndHumourless · 12/11/2012 10:50

If you want cornish then Loveday

Thewonderyears · 12/11/2012 12:10

Thanks all for the many and varied responses!

(Thanks also for the various Cornish suggestions- I'm not looking for a Cornish name as such, I just happen to like the word Endellion. But thank you for considering other options.)

How do you pronounce it?

goralka · 12/11/2012 12:31

it sounds like a skin condition or some medication.
please don't!

GrimAndHumourless · 12/11/2012 13:07

enDELLeeyun

CotedePablo · 12/11/2012 13:51

Please don't. It's beyond awful.

Geranium3 · 12/11/2012 15:11

i know you are not looking for a cornish name but how about lamorna, far more elegant than endellion and it is the name of the most beautiful coastal hamlet in all of cornwall, just farther on than mousehole and set in such a pretty woodland valley. You would be able to take your dd to such an enchanted place on holiday to her namesake, and i don't work for the cornish tourist board!!!!!

iseenodust · 12/11/2012 15:16

I only came on to see if it is for a boy or girl - there's the rub !

Pixieonthemoor · 12/11/2012 19:39

Clearly in the minority here but I think it is utterly gorgeous and thought about it for my dd but we had too many others to fit in. Do it!!

Northernlurker · 12/11/2012 19:42

How can you not care that David and Sam Cam used it? Awful

thebestnamesaregone · 12/11/2012 20:02

I met a Veryan recently - named after a Cornish village I believe. Rather pretty.

AgathaTrunchbull · 13/11/2012 19:13

Love and adore it, perhaps because it sounds like it should be a LotR name. It wouldn't work with our surname - probably luckily for any furture offspring!

Rhubarbgarden · 13/11/2012 20:01

Fantasy novel or medicine.

RimmersLustMonster · 14/11/2012 04:54

Endelienta is the (female) saint the village was named for...

Popumpkin · 14/11/2012 10:10

Sorry, I also can't read it without saying "Dandelion" in my head.

I wouldn't chose it personally.

Cezella · 14/11/2012 11:26

Pretty as a middle name I think, maybe not quite so nice as a first, still like it though

LauriesFairyonthetreeeatsCake · 14/11/2012 11:29

It's beyond awful and crossed over to 'Brooklyn' territory Grin ie. people will think that's where you conceived him, shagging in a village in Cornwall.
