Kirsty? Kirsten? Kirstie?

What do you think? First DC was a boy but would have been Iris if he'd been a girl. DH still loves Iris and wants us to give this one that name if it's a girl. But I've gone off it a bit and am wondering about Kirsty. DS is Angus so other suggestions that work well with that are welcome!

Angus and Iris are a bit samey. Kirsty is ok. An alternative could be Brodie?

Agree that Angus and Iris is a wee bit matchy-matchy.

Kirsty is a perfectly nice name (less keen on the Kirstie spelling - too cutsey) and goes well with Angus. Are you Scots or do you have Scotish heritage though? because that combo is rather tartan.

Would you consider Catrin? Similar to Kirsty but a bit edgier (insofar as a baby can be edgy. Black babygrows, I suppose.)

thanks v much for the views so far. Yes banana, DH is very Scottish and as we don't live in Scotland and DC's prob won't acquire the accent is keen for them to be tartan through and through!

I love Kirsty my sons if they had been girls would have either been Kirsty or Mairi.

Other suggestions would be Blythe, Rowan, Kizzie (short for Katherine) or Lorna.

Kirsty is my name too. Have always liked it and there aren't very many younger ones around. Well not here at least.

How much are you dead-set on Kirsty, Sleepless? Are you looking for alternatives or just testing the water to make sure it doesn't get a massive thumbs down?

I know that Freya isn't a Scottish name etymologically speaking, but it is a name frequently used in Scotland and has a very Scots 'feel'.

I'm a Kirsty and I love it. But if you go for it, please spell it with a y at the end. -ie just isn't right!

My name is Kirstie. I like it but everyone always mis spells it to Kristie or Kirsty. An ex colleague told me I changed the ending to IE to try to be cool and modern and didn't believe my name actually is Kirstie

I'm not dead set on Kirsty but do really like it and need to present good alternative to Iris which DH is dead set on! Am sounding out the general response but could be swayed by other suggestions... Catrin is too close to my own name and I do like Freya but am not sure the 'a' on the end goes with our O'... Surname, have discounted Isla and Iona, both of which I like, for the same reason. You've all given me food for thought; thanks.

Does your surname rhythm with O'bear? If so, I know an Olivia O'xxxx and I think it sounds lovely :)

How about Isla? - similar to Iris so your husband might approve!
