Hi all

I am looking for a short, punchy girls name, preferably with a vintage feel.

What do you think of the above, and have you any suggestions?

Thanks!

Like Audrey too, I should say, any comments on that welcome too. Was Keenan Mabel but think I am chickening out of that one!

I like Audrey. Lois is nice, but doesn't say vintage to me.
Don't like Nina, but like Sylvie/Sylvia.
Mabel says old lady to me.

MolotovBomb · 31/10/2012 14:59

I absolutely love Sylvia. Beautiful. Maybe Pearl is something else you'd consider?

Teamthrills · 31/10/2012 23:34

Love Nina.

crazynanna · 31/10/2012 23:37

Lois...though biased
I have a Lois Smile

But we call her Lolly

PhyllisDoris · 31/10/2012 23:40

Not Sylvie, unless you're French!
Not keen on Lois - would make me think of Superman every time I heard it.

squoosh · 31/10/2012 23:46

Sylvia is such a beautiful name.

I have decided that is what your daughter will be called. You may erase the other names from your list.

Kind regards,
Squoosh.

DD is Nina (yahboosucks to Solo). I only know excellent Ninas.

All your other names (apart from Mabel) were on our list of possibles. I think Lois rocks.

bubbles1231 · 31/10/2012 23:53

I like Nina!

And love Audrey, always makes me think of Audrey Hepburn.

zillyzilly · 31/10/2012 23:58

Nina is lovely. Is it meant to be short for anything?

DottieRose · 01/11/2012 00:27

Nina or Mabel are fab names and my faves from your list!

buzzgirly · 01/11/2012 06:21

I love Sylvie, it is so pretty. If ds had been a girl, he would have been Sylvie.

jaggythistle · 01/11/2012 06:32

i think they're all nice, but Lois is my favourite. :)

jaggythistle · 01/11/2012 06:34

actually not so keen on Hope and prefer Sylvia to Sylvie.

KnockedUpMell · 01/11/2012 06:42

Dontbesodramatic · 01/11/2012 06:59

mummabug · 01/11/2012 07:20

Lois :)

BoerWarKids · 01/11/2012 07:22

I really like all of them except Hope. Just makes me think of prem babies Sad

RTchoke · 01/11/2012 07:25

I like them all except Sylvia. They are all punchy and retro. My order would be:

Nina
Lois
Sylvie
Hope (I also like Faith)

birdofthenorth · 01/11/2012 07:32

Ooh, a mixed bag of responses! Thanks all. More love for Nina than I thought. I really like it but DH is on the fence. Zilly I think on the continent it is often short for any name ending in Eena- Katerina, Marina etc. But I like it alone I think.

Molotov I adore Pearl but my awful DH says he can't get past the "pearl necklace" double entendre which has slightly spoilt it for me!!

Forgot to add I really don't like the name Hope (no offence to any mums who chose the name) - to me it seems tacky along with Faith, Destiny and the like.

Nina is cute but definitely prefer Lois. Sylvia/Sylvie - not keen.
