MFK-what do these initials make you think of?

DH and I have agreed on Miles as a first name for DS (due December). His surname begins with a K, and we really want to use a middle name beginning with F after a family member. I think the initials MFK remind me of...well not a nice phrase. Am I over thinking it? BTW, I'm in the US, and using all 3 initials is very common here.

I didn't think of that phrase at all.
I just thought it was similar to MLK for Martin Luther King.

Durab · 12/10/2012 13:37

It made me think of the logo on some electrical plug sockets/light switches etc, although I think that is actually just MK Blush

orangefan · 12/10/2012 13:43

JFK and the nasty phrase. Sorry.

squoosh · 12/10/2012 14:08

way overthinking.

YouMayLogOut · 12/10/2012 14:31

I'm afraid it reminded me of not a nice phrase too.

ScaryBeardyDeadyman · 12/10/2012 14:38

Motherfucker. Sorry!

Trills · 12/10/2012 14:38

MFI

Startailoforangeandgold · 12/10/2012 14:41

Nothing,

Would never think of that phrase f*cking Wa**er is mine for those sort of situations.

DM doesn't need to get involved.

CheungFun · 12/10/2012 14:42

I didn't realise until I read Scary's post Blush

Most people don't know your middle name unless you tell them, so I'm sure it isn't going to be an issue.

HolyAutumnGoldBatman · 12/10/2012 20:34

My sister, those are her initials.

She is in her 30's and as far as I know, no-one has ever commented on her initials. Maybe everyone had been thinking it all these years.....

PickledFanjoCat · 12/10/2012 20:36

No I didn't get notherfucker!

ScaryBeardyDeadyman · 12/10/2012 20:58

I could just be because I'm particularly foul mouthed...

Clary · 14/10/2012 01:49

I thought MFI too Blush

SomersetONeil · 14/10/2012 08:17

If I'd just seen the initials together I wouldn't have made any connections, but the way your thread was worded, it made me look for something, and so yes - MoFo.

What I'm saying is that most people probably wouldn't make the connection without being prompted.

Bunbaker · 14/10/2012 08:20

It didn't make me think of anything derogatory, but I don't generally swear anyway. Even having it pointed out to me it still wouldn't make me think of anything. They are just a small line of letters as far as I am concerned.

Motherfucker, but it wouldn't put me off.

MolotovBomb · 14/10/2012 09:41

Motherf*ck ... but then, I have a mouth like a sailor :)

Don't sweat it!

Crumm24 · 14/10/2012 10:09

I swear much more than I care to admit, and I had no idea what this meant - I've just had to ask my husband (and then read the trail!). Agree that people generally don't go by full initials and also that people won't get it unless prompted. I think you're safe!

MadBusLadyHauntsTheMetro · 14/10/2012 18:57

Didn't see it at all and I swear all the time. I stared at it trying to think of something and came up with Milton fucking Keynes, which is generally what I say when trying to navigate round its outskirts. Probably no UK/US crossover there.
