Hi, struggling to pick out girls names as we have a very short surname and it def rules out any 'colour' names such as Ruby, Scarlett etc. I really like the name Elizabeth-it was my grandmothers name (very inspirational lady). Husband and MIL do not like. However, he has yet to make any name suggestions.

Agree, ignore MIL, she doesn't get a vote and will end up loving the name anyway when she associates it with a darling grandchild rather than thinking of it in the abstract or of another one she knows.

Hopefully your DH will love one of the nicknames and change his mind as it is such a lovely name. Also agree with above poster who said that if you start out using the nickname you like there is every chance others will use it automatically, until your DD is older and chooses her own nn.

Great name, classic but versatile. Love some of the nns, especially like Betsy, Betty, Beth

Lovely name! We have loads in my family! My gran called my aunt Elisabeth to stop people shortening it! Didn't work! We have: Liz, Betty, Beth, Lilli... I'd like to continue the family tradition but I only really like Libby & DH hates it! Sad
