Do you think there are any taboos?

Just don't pick any name that is too common. Please don't call your child Sophie, Maisy or Daisy. They are likely to meet other people with the same name as them as some women will take the surname Smith when they get married.

Its worth avoiding any name that is in the top ten.

Other than that I think any name goes with the surname Smith. Its likely that your daugher will change her surname if she does get married so she won't be saddled with the surname smith for life.

I think with Smith you good pull off quite a funky/quirky first name

I quite like alliteration for girls

Sadie Smith

Saskia Smith

Suki Smith

ffs the baby's not even born and people are assuming she'll change her name upon marriage

hopefully the world will have moved on in 30 yrs time

Alexandria - could never have children but would have called a daughter this. Unusual, so she's likely to be the only one with the name.

I would choose a longer name, and nothing ending in S or TH (e.g. Jess Smith, Beth Smith). Otherwise, you can choose any name you like really!
