A middle name for Marjorie?

If this baby is a girl we would like to name her after late grandma, Marjorie- but we're struggling to agree on a middle name.
We would want the name to be a Saints name.
Any ideas?

Marjorie Anne is my mum's name..I think it is a sweet lovely name..

delphinedownunder · 22/09/2012 13:28

My auntie is Marjorie Ann. She is a right old bag so I wouldn't go with that! (joke). Marjorie Maeve?

DancehallDaze · 22/09/2012 13:50

Is there a Saint Maeve?

Love "Joan of Arc". Marjorie Joan. Good name. Sounds Important.

Marjorie's a lovely name - dh's beloved aunt was a Marjorie and she was a wonderful person. Smile

Before I'd even opened this thread, I thought 'Marjorie Ann' which I see lots of people have mentioned already. I think because it's three syllables it needs a shorter middle name.

Is Marjorie a form of Mary? If so, as you are interested in saint's names, Marjorie Anne would be especially appropriate as Saint Anne was the Virgin Mary's Mother (IIRC).

That is truly a horrible name.I'm so sorry, but I couldn't sit on my hands any longer.Sad

I believe Marjorie is a form of Margaret.

Maeve (Medb) is a heroine of the Old Irish epic Táin Bo Cuailnge, so pre Christian.

edam · 22/09/2012 17:15

ooh, if it's a form of Margaret, it means 'a pearl' which is a lovely meaning.

Marjorie Joy
DD has Joy as a middle name, so I recommend it on every thread!! Smile

terrywoganstrousers · 22/09/2012 18:30

Piglet- I think it might be a Marmite name, but both DP and I like it and it is special to DP especially so I think we are agreed on it! No doubt we will have plenty of haters though so we have kept it to ourselves IRL ( less chance of haters speaking out once the baby is ACTUALLY called the name!)
I think I'm having a boy anyway so it may be a moot point! So we may have a Francis after all (think we will go for Francis George)

Mother's name is "Marjorie Joyce"...but when she was working on Capitol Hill,
Her friends called her "Marge".

terrywoganstrousers · 22/09/2012 21:29

I think I like Maggie as a nickname, or Meg.
