Choosing a name- Caroline or Jane?

I have a DD Caroline. There's one in every year at her school. It's a funny one for nicknames - ours has somehow become Cabs along the way and my aunt Caroline ended up as Taal

Sweet! Grin

emmyloo2 · 17/09/2012 05:05

I like it a lot. Classic, simple, pretty and not used much these days.

emmyloo2 · 17/09/2012 05:05

sorry and should add I much much prefer it to Jane.

YellowRiver · 17/09/2012 05:12

Love it. Always wanted to use it if I ever had a DD but then when I met my DP he has a close relative called Caroline, so it's off the cards for us.
Had a childhood friend who got nicknamed Caz and an adult friend Cal... both inoffensive nicknames I think

perplexedpirate · 17/09/2012 05:59

Love the name Caroline. I know several lovely ones too.

anamaria22 · 17/09/2012 07:12

I know a Caroline nicknamed Cary. Jane is also a classic underused name these days.

TudorJess · 17/09/2012 08:09

I prefer Jane.

Dogsmom · 17/09/2012 09:16

I prefer Jane, I'm 37 and so knew a lot of Carolines at school and they were all called Caz.

reddaisy · 17/09/2012 09:17

I also prefer Jane.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 17/09/2012 09:21

Caroline is lovely and any that I know are genuinely nice people.

Dont like Jane really.

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 17/09/2012 09:26

We considered Janey, and a friend is considering Caroline. Both great names.

Makes me was to pronounce it like the OUtkast song.

bradbourne · 17/09/2012 09:27

I like Caroline best - somehow seems like a cheerful name.

StormGlass · 17/09/2012 09:30

I prefer Jane.

Startailoforangeandgold · 17/09/2012 09:31

Jane is the dullest name ever.
Caroline is much nicer, but it's still a Mum name like Rachel, Janet, Jane, Susan or Caire.

Not sure you can revive it yet.

MolotovBomb · 17/09/2012 10:40

Nice name although I personally prefer Carolyn.

MrsJohnDeere · 17/09/2012 10:44

Caroline much nicer than Jane (I have Jane as a middle name, like most other 1970s children and I loathe it!)

I find it hard to imagine a baby or toddler called Caroline, maybe because I only know adult ones. Confused High chance it will get shortened to Caz though.

dietcokeandwine · 17/09/2012 11:29

I think Caroline is a lovely name. Probably fairly inevitable that she will become a Caz in her teenage years, but for a little girl I think the NN Carrie is very pretty Smile

PeshwariNaan · 17/09/2012 11:59

I think it's beautiful - it was my grandmother's name and I'd be using it except that my sister's reserved it in case she has a girl next.

Mintyy · 17/09/2012 12:02

Beautiful. Classy. Excellent choice.

happybubblebrain · 17/09/2012 12:03

I don't really like either.

undertheduvet · 17/09/2012 12:04

I like it especially as its my name ;-) also jane is my middle name. I've never really had it shortened to anything, so i wouldnt worry too much about that

PollyIndia · 17/09/2012 12:33

My mum's name so I like it :)

squoosh · 17/09/2012 12:37

I really like Caroline. I know a few and none of them have ever been nicknamed Caz! I hate those Z nicknames, so ugly. Carrie is lovely though.

EverlongYouAreGoldAndOrange · 17/09/2012 12:37

Sorry neither.

Both are dated, Jane is a bit dull.
