I'm expecting number 4 and all my other DCs have really unusual names. I love Bay for a boy or girl, spelt either Bay, Bai, Baye or Bae? What do you think? How should I spell it for a girl and for a boy? :-)

Bay for either gender.

MrsLettuce · 12/09/2012 11:27

How about Laurel (or Laureli) nn Bay for a girl?

scentednappyhag · 12/09/2012 11:27

I don't like it at all, but if you decide to use it, Bay is the only spelling that looks ok to me personally.

DessieLou · 12/09/2012 11:30

Kirsty Allsop has a Bay (a boy I think). I prefer the spelling Bay, it looks a little classier IMO. Are we allowed to know your other DC's names? [nosey cow emoticon] Smile

I thought the spelling Bay suited a boy more and a different spelling for a girl but not sure.......
I'd rather not say my others names as I've never heard them before and wouldn't want to :-)
Bay seems to suit the others well but I'm still open to something else if it's unusual and suits :-)
Thanks guys

If you must use Bay, don't mess about with the spelling.

Badgerina · 12/09/2012 11:46

What SoupDragon said.

lisaro · 12/09/2012 11:47

Awful, and even worse with the ridiculous yooneek spellings.

surfingluby · 12/09/2012 11:48

I'm getting the impression it's not a good choice??

imho Bay is the only spelling acceptable.

how about Alaina for a girl?

MrsHelsBels74 · 12/09/2012 11:48

Please don't use this, especially with some stupid fancy spelling. Bay just makes me think of bay windows for some reason.

surfingluby · 12/09/2012 11:52

Alaina is lovely but I've heard it a few times before and I want something really unusual. I googled unusual names and when Bay come up I just loved it :-) and Blue for a boy but I never would as I understand he will probably get picked on when he starts school!!

I adore the name Bay it is really beautiful, I always think how lovely it is when I see Kirstie Alsopp making something for her Bay! However it always seems to get slated here.....which surprises me as it seems like a "typical" mumsnet type name! But stick to the Bay spelling!

surfingluby · 12/09/2012 12:08

Oh wow Lemonloveslilac, thanks so much for posting......I feel better knowing someone loves it as my heart is set on it :-)

Bay is a lovely boys' name. I know a Bayard, nicknamed Bay.

Not sure I like it that much for a girl, think there are far more elegant girls' names around.

surfingluby · 12/09/2012 12:15

I originally thought that but the more I think of it the more I love it for both but I think my partner isnt keen on it for a girl but I can't find anything unusual that's nice.......I'm on google now searching!
