Derin
Derry
Davy

Which do you prefer and any connotations?

Derin - I think of Derrin Brown who I know changed his name from Darren to make it sound more 'showbiz' so I think of it as a bit celeby and made up.

Derry - I think of Derry City in Northern Ireland and all the politics surrounding Derry / Londonderry.

Davy - I think it's a sweet nickname of David. Not a very grown up name but cute for a baby.

Thank you.

I know an adult Derrin, lovely guy, but it still sounds made up to me and a bit odd.

Derry - I think this is actually ok :)

I like Davie or Davy or even Daibhidh if you want to get all Gaelic, but i prefer David.

picnicbasketcase · 10/09/2012 17:21

I prefer Davy out of the three but David is better.

Puremince · 10/09/2012 17:25

The only Derry I've ever heard of, the politician Derry Irvine, is an Alexander. So I might guess that "Derry" = Alexander.

I prefer David to Davy, though Davy is ok as a nickname.

I don't like Derin. Is it even a name?

TittyWhistles · 10/09/2012 17:27

I knew a girl called Derrin, it seemed weird then, around the time of Banarama and one of them was called Kerin (I think!)
Very suited to the 80's.

Derry is a bit like a nickname, "...And what is that short for?" sort of thing.

Davy is ok, but like amck and picnic said, David is much nicer.

MrsJohnDeere · 10/09/2012 17:38

Really don't like any, sorry.

Davy = Crockett
Derry = N. Ireland
Derin doesn't sound like a name

TudorJess · 10/09/2012 19:33

What MrsJohnDeere said.

shoobidoo · 11/09/2012 15:58

How about David?

FriggFRIGG · 11/09/2012 19:04

Davy is the best of the three IMO.

lovechoc · 11/09/2012 19:13

Do not like the first two, but Davy's fine. David would be much better though!

SoupDragon · 11/09/2012 19:13

I dislike them all I'm afraid.

Flojo1979 · 11/09/2012 19:16

Don't like any tbh

wigglesrock · 11/09/2012 19:35

I know a few Derrys, all short for various spellings of Diarmuid Grin I'm a bit meh about Derin and I dislike Davy but I like David - Davy just a bit flash (but that might be just because I went to school with a real dick called Davy)
