Stella - will it make people think of the Belgian lager?!

I am due DD2 in Nov and we are thinking of names.

DH and I both really like Stella but I am worried about its association with a Belgian lager!

What do you think?

Thanks

It might do but it wouldn't put me off. I think it's a fab name.

EdithWeston · 05/09/2012 12:48

Yes, I'd associate I very strongly with the lager (and it doesn't help that it's nn'ed 'wife beater').

DontmindifIdo · 05/09/2012 12:51

Yes, would be the first thing most people will think of, she'll have a lifetime of say "yes, like the lager"

However, it is a pretty name...

I dread to think what teenage boys would come up with when she's a teenager!

BlueChampagne · 05/09/2012 13:24

Would Estella (NN Stella) be better?

Myliferocks · 05/09/2012 13:29

There's a Spanish lager called Estrella if that's any help.

Grin at Mylife. There is a Stella at DC school. Their Mum is constantly asked if she was drinking it on the night she was conceived.

frank gallaghers kid

Was on my list for dd because I love it but Dh immediately said no because of the association (prob didn't want to be saying it if he had a hangover)!

I love Estella/Estelle and would have gone for either of those if they had worked with our surname.

Spice17 · 05/09/2012 13:45

Reminds me of Michelle Collins' charater in Corrie if that helps at all?

peeriebear · 05/09/2012 13:47

There is a very sweet, kind, naice-Boden-mum Stella at DD's school... But I still think of the lager when I hear the name Blush

PeshwariNaan · 05/09/2012 13:49

Stella is a gorgeous name - meaning "star." I always think of the Philip Sidney poem "Astrophel and Stella" (16th C.). Classic Renaissance name!

hk78 · 05/09/2012 13:50

my first reaction was 'mccartney'

I don't know whether you find that better or worse Grin

ENormaSnob · 05/09/2012 13:50

Lager or shameless.
