Stella - will it make people think of the Belgian lager?!

I am due DD2 in Nov and we are thinking of names.

DH and I both really like Stella but I am worried about its association with a Belgian lager!

What do you think?

It might do but it wouldn't put me off. I think it's a fab name.

Yes, I'd associate I very strongly with the lager (and it doesn't help that it's nn'ed 'wife beater').

Yes, would be the first thing most people will think of, she'll have a lifetime of say "yes, like the lager"

However, it is a pretty name...

I dread to think what teenage boys would come up with when she's a teenager!

Would Estella (NN Stella) be better?

There's a Spanish lager called Estrella if that's any help.

at Mylife. There is a Stella at DC school. Their Mum is constantly asked if she was drinking it on the night she was conceived.

Was on my list for dd because I love it but Dh immediately said no because of the association (prob didn't want to be saying it if he had a hangover)!

I love Estella/Estelle and would have gone for either of those if they had worked with our surname.

Reminds me of Michelle Collins' charater in Corrie if that helps at all?

There is a very sweet, kind, naice-Boden-mum Stella at DD's school... But I still think of the lager when I hear the name

Stella is a gorgeous name - meaning "star." I always think of the Philip Sidney poem "Astrophel and Stella" (16th C.). Classic Renaissance name!
