Ramona & nickname for Ramona

What do you think of the name Ramona? And what about Mimi as a nickname?

Not keen, same name as the utter fruit loop on Real Housewives of NYC.

Hmm, she won't get Mimi as a nickname, she'll more likely get Mona.

Or Mo, which is really sweet. Ray, maybe? Rami?

We toyed with it because we wanted to honour a Raymond. It's a lovely name, I think.

It makes me think of Scott Pilgrim which is cool. In the comics, Ramona gets called Rammy which isn't so nice, but as has been mentioned, Mo is very sweet.

Ramona is OK but I do notice the "moan" sound. How about Rowena?

Ramona is lovely but I think Moany is the most obvious nickname once she starts school. I don't think that would put me off though.

You'll be calling her 'Moaner' within the week, then 'Moaning Minnie', then 'Minnie' at least you would in our house. So go ahead if you like the name Minnie!

Oh dear, Ramona! It makes me think of The Godfather or The Sopranos. And regardless of what her nn is at home once she starts school the children will give her a moana nn.

prefer mona to romana (too real housewives of NYC) but think monica is also nice (I know "Friends", but that's not on as much now)

I love Ramona, I used to love the childrens TV show when I was little.
It was on my list for all four DC but DH vetoed it every time.

Why do you need a nickname, surely they are something that just happen rather than being created.

I would use Romy as a nn, because I love that too.
I think Nina is a similar type name, or Romilly, both are lovely.

The nickname is because I really like Mimi too and was trying to see how realistically it could be shoehorned into the name
