After watching Dr Who I really like the name Oswin. What do you think?

Have my hormones affected my judgement or is it as lovely as I think it is?

It's a girls name.

I'd spell it Oswyn, following the pattern of AngloSaxon girls names (rather than Scandi boys).

I loveAngloSaxon names, and seem to remember a long thread about them a which back!

I liked it too! I thought it might be spelt aus . . .

I've Googled but can't find it.

FanjoPingpong · 03/09/2012 09:59

I think it was spelled 'Oswin' in the show, but would be nice as 'Oswyn'. :)

Thank you for the link, will have a read.

Will end up picking an Irish name as usual but I get hours of entertainment looking at baby names it's the only reason I have children

love it, I reckon after irish/flower/little old lady names etc, very very old names are the way to go!

I know one. Always known as Oz. People automatically assume he's a posh tw*t before meeting him. It's quite a burden to shoulder i think (see also: Gawain)

HANG ON - it's a GIRL's NAME you say??? the one I know is very definitely a man.

Badgerina · 03/09/2012 11:19

I don't really like it. It reminds me of Oswald (Mosley)

strugglingwiththepreteenbit · 03/09/2012 16:46

I like it!
