I prefer the Aneirin spelling but I suppose Aneurin would make it different to my friends name.

Is Nye a diminutive of Aneirin? If so, that might be an option.

No, it's a-neigh-Ron. At least that's the correct welsh pronunciation. People do think it's nye because of nye Bevin but either he was saying it wrong or people anglicised it.
