Don't like, sorry. But people who like that sort of name might like them!

BaronessBomburst · 28/08/2012 12:07

They're okay. Unusual but both proper names. Actually, I think they're growing on me as I just tried them with my surname and it works really well. :)

suedpantsoffem · 28/08/2012 12:07

Are they actual names, or did you make them up? I've never heard them before, and not keen - sorry. But I'm a bit traditional, and only really like "proper" names.

BunnyLebowski · 28/08/2012 12:09

They both sound made up and are very insipid, wet names.

GlitterPinkRubberDucky · 28/08/2012 12:15

Thank you for the opinions. One is an actual (foreign) name, and the other is the name of a river in Turkey.

Lovemy3kids · 28/08/2012 12:19

i like both of the names :)

elah11 · 28/08/2012 12:20

I wouldnt be fond of either name tbh, Alanya sounds a bit like Alannah only not as nice!

GlitterPinkRubberDucky · 28/08/2012 12:22

I've never heard of Alannah before ...how is it pronounced? A-lan-aa?

OP posts:
MrsJohnDeere · 28/08/2012 12:23

Not keen

Ra88 · 28/08/2012 12:26

Not keen .. I like Aria though !

GlitterPinkRubberDucky · 28/08/2012 12:28

Ooh Aria...sounds nice

BaronessBomburst · 28/08/2012 12:29

They're not made-up names, not unless lots of people are making them up. I used to know an Alanya and Alara comes up on Facebook.

BaronessBomburst · 28/08/2012 12:30

How about Alina? I work with an Alina. (pro. A-lee-na)

GlitterPinkRubberDucky · 28/08/2012 12:43

alina.......hmmm has a nice ring to it but maybe lo similar to dc1's name. Thank you though.

OP posts:
LynetteScavo · 28/08/2012 12:45

I am on the floor and cannot stop laughing GrinGrinGrin Thanks

elah11 · 28/08/2012 16:00

GlitterPinkRubberDucky its pronounced Ah-lan-ah with emphasis on second syllable. I think its from the Irish word leanbh which means child.

snickers251 · 28/08/2012 16:02

I know a gorgeous little Turkish girl called alara, I like it Smile

DessieLou · 30/08/2012 01:05

I suggested Elara to DP but he said no. Sad

Mothership4two · 30/08/2012 01:23

What about Alana as that seems pretty similar to the ones you picked and much prettier sounding. If I had had a girl I liked Alex and Lara (just thought I would throw that in). The suggestion of Aria grabs me the most, it is pretty and unusual but not too unusual.

Badgerina · 30/08/2012 02:28

worldcitizen I'm also laughing, and I bet other people who find that sort of thing funny, would find it funny too.

MollyMurphy · 30/08/2012 03:12

Ariadne......I like it Remus

I think they are okay names OP - I'd pick Alara between the two
