I love the name Monty ( have a major soft spot for Monty Don) and will more than likely use it should I have a ds. I am just curious as to what sort of reception have mums to little Monty's had to the name! I know that it is a marmite name, I just think it is great!

I know 2 little Monty's. I like it.

Would you have just Monty or go full hog and have Montague or Montgomery?

manicinsomniac · 26/08/2012 21:35

I know one. I like it and think Montgomery is a fantastic name.

frutilla · 26/08/2012 21:35

Yes, I have a little Monty, one and a half, everyone love's the name, no one has thought it strange. The name on his birth certificate is a longer version.

Beamur · 26/08/2012 21:37

One. He's very cute.

LemonLovesLilac · 26/08/2012 21:39

I think I would go with just Monty on the birth cert.....I would be a little afraid to go the full hog with Montgomery.....though I do like it! Great responses so far....it is a fantastic name though I have never met one! I just think it would be super cute on a little one, quirky on a teenager and distinguished on a grown man!

I had a guinea pig called Monty - Does that help Grin

ceeveebee · 26/08/2012 22:12

One of the babies on last weeks Midwives programme was called Monty. It's a great name IMO. Personally I would go for full version so he can decide when he is older

Sort of... When I last took DS3 to be weighed about a month ago, there was a newish born baby Montgomery nn Monty. I really like it.

LegArmpits · 27/08/2012 07:42

I think people/pets names should be interchangeable anyway. What's the big deal? My dog is called Monthomery Alan, and my DS is called Oscar. I know LOADS of dogs called Oscar.

LegArmpits · 27/08/2012 07:43

Monthomery! Ha! That's a new one.

nextphase · 27/08/2012 07:53

Yes, I know one who is coming up for 2, and was going to say I'd seen one on the TV recently - probably the one ceeveebee saw.

Not to my taste, but why should that matter. He has a very normal first name, and is called by Monty, which is his middle name.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 27/08/2012 14:19

Makes me think of Monty Halls, and he is lush, so I think it's a great name.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 27/08/2012 14:21

Any excuse to find a picture of Monty Halls

MrsJohnDeere · 27/08/2012 15:29

Dogs yes
children no

londonmackem · 27/08/2012 16:06

Montgomery has been a contender for both our dcs but we didn't have the guts! Decided yesterday after meeting two montys of the four pawed variety we made the right choice!

HumphreyCobbler · 27/08/2012 21:01

Monty Don's actual name is Montagu - more unusual than Montgomery

I know a couple of them. It is a nice name. No one thinks that the children are dogs Grin
