Not William - likely to be shortened to Will and that''ll be a bit of a mouthful with Wilk!! Do love Benjamin though.

Thingymajigs · 24/08/2012 12:08

I love the name Benjamin. I would use it myself but our surname begins with an N and apparently this goes against all naming rules known to man. So I'm always suggesting other people use it instead.
Benjamin Charles Wilk sounds lovely Smile

HoratiaWinwood · 24/08/2012 12:08

Normally I'd prefer William but not with Wilks!

Benjamin is fine but I know lots so find it a bit boring now. Otherwise Edward, Christopher, Robert, George?

applepieinthesky · 24/08/2012 12:08

I agree. Will Wilk sounds silly. You might not call him Will but other people are likely to.

Sebastian and Conrad come to mind because of Faulks and Black respectively. Both have 'k' endings to their surnames. A very strong sounding first name is required.

amck5700 · 24/08/2012 12:35

prefer William to Benjamin. How about Jonathan Edward Wilks?

MrsJohnDeere · 24/08/2012 12:39

William. Won't necessarily be shortened ime.

mrsbugsywugsy · 24/08/2012 12:46

Joseph William

Two unusual names have just made me post again, I'm meant to be working! I doubt you will like them! I don't even know if I do. Hazlitt and then Tyzack. Odd. I think it's because your surname has an old fashioned feeling. I will have to look them up now and discover why they came to mind.

HoratiaWinwood · 24/08/2012 13:02

Even if it isn't shortened, William Wilks is a bit Edward Woodward. Or Neville Neville. Or John Jones.

Vicky2011 · 24/08/2012 13:19

William is the very finest of boy's names :-)
However I do agree that it doesn't work with Wilks. For me, I would go with Benjamin William Wilks. Charles just is one of those names that doesn't work for me, sorry. A few other solid names that pass the "could this man be a pilot, lawyer or doctor" test that your choices seem to suggest are:

Matthew William
Joseph William
Luke William
Christopher William
Nathaniel Charles
George William
Dominic Charles
Jonathan William

Alexander, Nicholas, Alastair, James, Christian, Lucian.
