Jemima or Fenella?

I'm pregnant with DC2 and we are completely sorted if its a boy but having struggled with DD1's name, we are encountering the same problems now!

We both like Jemima and Fenella (the middle name would probably be Rose) but wondered what the MN consensus is!

Any thoughts welcome!

I like both. Fenella is probably more unusual, though - pick Fenella!

AuraofDora · 23/08/2012 20:12

Fen is nice, Fenella well, sort of vanilla sorry no

Jem is nice, Jemima, electric aunt Jemima, and too much pony club for me

cakeismysaviour · 23/08/2012 20:15

Fenella. :)

Love Fen as a nn.

blondieminx · 23/08/2012 20:24

I like both, Fenella could be shortened to Ella also. Think there's a radio 2 news reader with the name.

Jemima is nice but more popular, I know 2 under-5's with the name. Slightly prefer Jemima to go with Rose as the middle name, to me it scans better.

I like fen, purely for JC reasons (I have based many life decisions on jilly) but it's sweet and underused

I know a Fenella - Nelly for short - and she's fab, so my associations are all good!

Momdeguerre · 23/08/2012 20:33

I prefer Jemima with the middle name Rose but Fenella is pretty too.

needsgirlname · 23/08/2012 20:48

While I do like unusual names for girls, I think Fenella is slightly too weird.. sounds like Fennel..

Jemima is cute!

Ham69 · 23/08/2012 20:58

There was a Fenella in my year at school (many moons ago) and the only memories I have of her/ associations of her name are that her mum had her at 14 (very sad) and that she was a bit of a bully. Sorry, not very positive. Though I love Nell which would be a very possible nn.

I really like Jemima.

CanoeSlalom · 23/08/2012 21:59

Of the two, Jemima.

randomimposter · 24/08/2012 08:27

Jemima Rose by a country mile. Lovely.

EdithWeston · 24/08/2012 08:30

I'd choose Jemima.

Fenella does make me think of the plant a bit; but when I was little I really wanted to be Fenella Fielding (for that wonderful red velvet dress). And it's a Jilly name too, for a nice character!

trilottie · 24/08/2012 11:08

Jemima.
Fenella makes me think of Fenella Fudge on R2 (I think) and also, erm, of windows. Quite like the Ella bit though.

worldcitizen · 24/08/2012 11:45

Fenella sounds...well like some sanitizer, or female hygiene product, or the name of a birth control pill Blush Sorry.

But I think fen as a nn sounds cute for a little girl, but also a woman Smile

bleedingheart · 24/08/2012 11:50

YY, worldcitizen, I think it sounds like treatment for thrush but agree that Fen is cute

LemonLovesLilac · 24/08/2012 14:12

Jemima is absolutely gorgeous!! Fenella sounds like the name of an Adams Family member!!!

pigletpower · 28/08/2012 00:26

Our DD2 was going to be either Fenella or Felicity. We went with Felicity, but I still love Fenella.

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 28/08/2012 20:12

I love Fenella- beautiful name

ExitStencilist · 29/08/2012 21:04

Uber Sloane Ranger, both of them. On a par with Araminta and the like.
