No boys name and time running out!

Names on the short list are Luke, Oliver, Alexander, Samuel, and Benjamin.

To give a flavour of our taste, girls names are
Emmeline and Iris.

With the boys names we just can't settle on a name and I fear that might be because we havent found the right one. We've been through several name books several times and are stuck!

Names that aren't an option are Thomas, William, Archie, Mark and Charles.

Help please!

Luke, Oliver, Alexander i like all 3.
not so keen on your girls names -but you know once a name is given the person quickly grows into it

amck5700 · 21/08/2012 15:00

Nathaniel, James, Jonathan, Crispin, Christopher, Edward, Edmund.

Out of your shortlist I think Sam or Ben probably go best.

Kaekae · 21/08/2012 16:04

I'd go for Alexander because the other names are far too overused. I really like Iris.

reliablemillipede · 21/08/2012 17:15

Alexander - the others are over used.

Thingymajigs · 21/08/2012 17:49

I'm surprised that everyone is saying Alexander isn't overused. My Alexander is in a class with 4 other Alexander's. I'm perplexed as to why they keep them in the same class.
I haven't heard of any Benjamin's, which I think is a lovely name.

Thingymajigs · 21/08/2012 17:50

Oh and I love your girls name too. Smile I have two boys, the aforementioned Alexander and a Samuel.

CanoeSlalom · 21/08/2012 18:12

Luke and Alexander are my favourites of the boys, and Emmeline for a girl is lovely.

Daya · 21/08/2012 18:15

I'd say your boys names aren't half as nice as your girls name.
Alexander is nice but so popular.

What about;

Euan
Gabrial
Francis
Tristan
Vincent

MacMac123 · 21/08/2012 19:48

Your boys names are nice but all pretty common/popular
What about Rex?

dublindee · 21/08/2012 19:56

When I hear Rex - I think dog ... Sorry!!

How's about Conor (means lover of hounds) or Owen (meaning well-born) although I'd use the Irish spelling Eoghan, but that's just me!!

chocolatecheesecake · 21/08/2012 20:45

Thanks everyone, good to hear your views and suggestions for alternative choices. Much appreciated

I think all of your names are great, to be honest. I wouldn't worry too much about not having settled on a name, we had quite a long 'shortlist' of boy's names for DS1 and a choice of 2 girl's names (I thought he was a girl although we hadn't found out). In the end, when he arrived we just 'knew' which name suited him and went with that. I'm currently 39 weeks with DC2 and we don't have any names decided!

burleyburley · 21/08/2012 21:02

I think you should have a Peter, Simeon or Arthur Smile

MattDamonIsMyLover · 21/08/2012 21:04

Dominic is cool. I like Alexander.

jenbird · 21/08/2012 22:09

Love your girls names, both on my list too. I like Alexander. For a boy we have Hamish but others in contention are:
Ned
Hector
William nn Billy
Barnaby

emmyloo2 · 22/08/2012 03:57

Your boys names are nice but as everyone has said, very very popular.

I like jenbird's suggestions about.

I also like: Arthur, George, Felix, Theodore, Edward and Fergus

I love Iris.

DessieLou · 22/08/2012 16:44

What good taste you have! How about Nicholas, Edward/Edwin (Ted), Gabriel (love this! OH says no), Isaac, Zachary.

DessieLou · 22/08/2012 16:49

Oh, and Fraser. Another one OH has vetoed!

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 22/08/2012 17:25

I like the boys names, but as everyone says, very popular

What about:

Patrick
Michael
Evan

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 22/08/2012 17:26

Alexander is my favourite of your choices

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 22/08/2012 17:27

Also

What about:

Matthew

chocolatecheesecake · 22/08/2012 21:44

I like Gabriel, Theo and Zachary but DH has vetoed them all. Edward however has not been vetoed...Smile so even if we're not narrowing down the list at least we're exploring all options!

Alexander is lovely. If Charles isn't an option, but you like it, what about Charlie?
