2nd boy - name to go with Alexander

First son is Alexander (usually Xander), due with my second in December and struggling to think of a good list of names.

Ideal would be something similar - a solid name with a modern abbreviation. Would be nice if it had a Scottish or Welsh connection too.

Don't want a name starting with A, F or Ph (due to surname).

DH keeps suggesting Casper!!!

James.

It's a Scottish name (all the Kings of Scotland were james except 1 I think!)

My son is James and we have Alexander picked for another boy (if we had one)

We don't abbreviate it though so can't help with that. What about Jay, Jamie, Jimmy?

Puremince · 19/08/2012 16:01

Only seven Kings of Scotland were called James. Other Scottish kings were called Robert, William, Constantine, David, Duncan, Alexander, Malcolm.

We have an Alexander and other names we liked were:
James
Douglas
Patrick
Hector
David

We would have used William as a middle name (less chance of being shortened to Willie as a middle!)

I have a Xander (Alexander). Also have a Michael and a Max.

Casper is nice for a December boy as that was the name of one of the Three Wise Men (so there is a Christmas connection though their arrival in Bethlehem is celebrated in January)

How about
Joseph
Gabriel

Love Fergus, Struan, Michael, Hamish..

DessieLou · 22/08/2012 16:48
