Sadie, Mabel, Gwen or Jude for a girl?

Just pg after two mcs but struggling not to obsess about baby names already!

These are my favourites for a girl, not to everyone's taste I'm sure, but I'd welcome your views.

Gwen would be Gwendoline on the birth cert and Jude would be Judith (after MIL).

Be honest, I can take it!

Congratulations!! Smile

Is so easy to get obsessed with names!!

In order of preference:
Jude - dont like Judith but Jude is nice - know of one and she is lovely!
Mabel - nice enough though I think of it as a cats name (sorry!). Prefer Martha, Matilda, Madeline.
Gwen - ok though not a fan of Gwendoline (makes me think of Windolene!!)
Sadie -dont like

Sadie - quite like although the 'Sad' part leaps out at me.
Mabel - slowly and surprisingly growing on me, I used to think it was an old lady's name too far (a bit like Nancy or Ethel could be) but it is quite cheerful and i know a lovely little Mabel. like May as a nn.
Gwen - love this name! gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!
Jude - another gorgeous name but a popular boy's name at the moment.

Other similar suggestions....

Jodie
Martha
Saskia
Caitlin

Sadie, ] I just love this its so pretty
Mabel It grows on me as I know 1 who is just adorable
Gwen I can only see in my head Gwen Stefani and for me that isnt good
Jude I was going to say no as I am not keen until I saw you wanted to use Judith and name her after your mil . I love naming children after people you love so for me that gives it the biggest vote. With Judith as the first name she has a fall back later on if she doesnt wish to be Jude to everyone. IMp Judith is pretty.

Sadie - quite pretty
Mabel - too "old lady"
Gwen - not keen
Jude - OK as nickname for Judith

Sophiesmummie · 16/08/2012 11:58

I like Jude/Judith very much.

Sadie looks like 'sad' y to me and Mabel doesn't sound very feminine imo.

RightsaidFreud · 16/08/2012 12:00

Sadie- Nice, only know one and shes 27!
Mabel- Too old ladyish and to me its a dogs name
Gwen- Lovely, unusal, but bit old fashioned
Jude- To me, it's a boys name. Lovely as a boys name, not so much for a girl.

Thank you all! Just glad some of you like some of my choices, thought they may all be slammed! Particularly thought Mabel would be totally poo-poohed... Whereas it only partially has Smile

Frikadellen if we don't go with Jude/ith as a first name it will definitely be the middle name (will make for one very touched Nana!)

I love Sadie. Not keen on the others.

exoticfruits · 16/08/2012 20:56

Judith-Jude.

Judith/Jude is lovely and the most timeless and classic option IMO. Lovely name!
