what do you think of our (possibly!) final choices?

We're due our 1st baby in 4.5 weeks (eek, sounds scary when you write it down!) We don't know what we're having yet so have been compliling lists for boys and girls. These are our favourites, at the moment. Our surname is Croft.

For a girl:
Matilda Hope Croft

(we're pretty definite on this one - we love Matilda, and Tilly as a nickname, and Hope is the name of the village where we got married).

For a boy:
Theo George Croft

(Husband is still unsure about Theo because of the Theo Walcott connection, whereas I don't watch football so don't care! He wants a boy to be called Orson Inigo Croft).

WDYT? Honestly?

Matilda Hope is lovely, although I'm not overly keen on Tilly. Matilda Croft sounds great.

Love both Theo and Orson!

floranora · 10/08/2012 10:44

i hate both Matilda and Hope! although you have a connection to the name Hope, i just feel it is very common now a days.

hate theo, and much prefer your DH choice of boys names.

Beans1977 · 10/08/2012 10:44

I think all lovely so you can't go wrong! It's a really nice idea to include the village where you got married and I think Theo and Orson are both strong boys names. Good list!

iseenodust · 10/08/2012 10:49

Like both choices. Don't mind Orsn either but Orson Inigo doesn't work IMO.

Birdies · 10/08/2012 11:44

Both names are absolutely gorgeous, Tilly is such a pretty name. I think Matilda and Theo are more common now though so as long as you don't mind that, then go for it.

Orsen reminds me of 'arsen' so not as keen, although is much more unusual.

RuthlessBaggage · 10/08/2012 11:48

Like them both, although all the names are fairly common where I live so if uniqueness is what you're after then that might be something to think about.

Orson Inigo is just dreadful a completely different style and definitely not as good.

CakeBump · 10/08/2012 11:49

I think they're both lovely. Are you from North Wales perchance? :)

Birdies · 10/08/2012 11:51

Ps a big no from me to 'inigo', I really don't like that even as a mn

HugeFurryWishingStool · 10/08/2012 11:56

Both Matilda Hope and Theo George are lovely!

Badgerina · 10/08/2012 12:50

I love your choices. I'm not as keen on Orson Inigo though...

Ebb · 10/08/2012 14:53

Matilda and Theo are lovely names. Orson Inigo is horrible. Your names win! Grin

VolAuVent · 10/08/2012 14:59

They're all perfectly good names so if you love them, use them!

I really like Hope, Theo (particularly if short for Theodore) and George.

Matilda isn't one of my favourites but you clearly love the name so it must be the right one!

tigermummy35 · 10/08/2012 15:00

Orson makes me think of the lunatic that Bree married in Desperate Housewives! Theo is lovely as is Matilda :)

MoonHare · 10/08/2012 16:52

Congratulations on your iminent arrival.

Love Matilda Hope, my DD2 was almost a Matilda.

Theo is OK but I prefer George.

Don't like Orson, makes me think 'Mork and Mindy' and Inigo seems try-hard to me.

So overall I prefer your choices.

ShowOfHands · 10/08/2012 16:58

I have a Mathilda so clearly like it, but dislike how cutesy Tilly is. DD is a Tilda. That's just personal preference though. MN having a meaning is nice too. Matilda is actually going down in popularity now, it had a bit of a surge a few years ago. Tilly sounds more popular than it is too ime as cutesy names like Lily, Tilly, Milly, Ellie etc are ten a penny atm.

If dd had been a ds she would probably have been Inigo so I obviously like that. I like Theo but prefer the longer versions with Theo as a nickname.

SweetPea3 · 10/08/2012 20:38

All great names! Well done!

Cj1981 · 10/08/2012 22:44

My DD is Matilda (Tilly for short) and should DC2 (due Oct) be a boy he will be Theo. You have fab taste Wink

GnocchiNineDoors · 10/08/2012 22:47

Love Matilda, prefer George to Theo.

exoticfruits · 10/08/2012 22:47

I like them but would have George Theo.

ColourMeWithChaos · 10/08/2012 22:47

Really like Matilda Hope and Theo George.

Orson makes me think of Orson Welles and the band Orson and Desperate Housewives.

FishfingersAreOK · 10/08/2012 22:49

Orson Inigo Croft would give the initial OIC....he will potentially be called an OIK. Well actually probably not but may help with the pregnancy hormonal related argument discussions with your DH Grin

Pekka · 10/08/2012 22:50

Love Theo George!!! Not sure about Orson, unless you are huge fans of Orson Welles. Matilda Hope is Ok.

KatieTaylor · 10/08/2012 22:53

Love the idea of HOpe as a middle name but I just don't like Matilda at all.

Theo George is nice.

Northernlurker · 10/08/2012 23:04

Nice names. I like Inigo better than Orson though.
