New baby girls name - delphina vs verity vs flora

We had a new baby (our third) nearly two weeks ago and still haven't chosen a name. She has been a very brave little girl having already spent an extra 5 days in hospital with viral meningitis so we want a strong
/brave name but a feminine old fashioned name.

Dh likes flora but verity has always been a favourite of mine. One of my other favourites was delphina or delphinia but Dh doesn't like it. Her middle names will probably be Violet Edith. Any thoughts on the above 3 names or any other suggestions..?

Congratulations! I hope she is better now.

I like Verity best of your three.

Flora is a lovely name but it's also a brand of margarine; you might get nicknames of Marge or jokes about spreading or toast. If you like it, I don't see that as a big problem.

Other names that you might like: Antonia, Christabel, Ivy, Primrose, Rosamund, Viola?

Flora Violet Edith is a gorgeous classy name, I love it

Verity is nice too, perhaps reverse the mns if you choose that though, Verity Edith Violet?

Delphina nn Delphie is lovely but if your dh is against it might be better to go with the others .. having said that, my ds is called Alistair nn Ali .. dh was against it right until he was born then he agreed that he just looked like an Ali.. sometimes lo's just tell us their name when they are born .. see what name she looks more like!

How about Matilda? It means brave little maid

MrsJohnDeere · 09/08/2012 17:39

Verity

And congratulations!

VolAuVent · 09/08/2012 17:49

I like Verity best of those.

How about Seraphina, Juliet, Delilah, Coralie, Melissa, Hermione, Louisa?

drtachyon · 09/08/2012 17:56

Verity.

I love love love that name. Sadly, our surname begins with a D, so I can't even consider any names beginning with V for a child of mine Sad

And Flora = margarine in my head.

Beaniebots · 09/08/2012 19:32

She has a cousin called Matilda so that is a no go!
You don't think verity sounds a bit horsey?

No, Verity does not sound horsey. Matilda sounds more horsey than Verity.
