So far I have Lauren or Lorelai. Any other ideas?

It take it Laurie is the name you want? Why not just use Laurie?

Iheartpasties · 26/07/2012 08:37

I thought it was Lauri for a girl and Laurie for a boy.

What about Lauriemma, thats a friends name.

tummytickler · 26/07/2012 08:42

Laurel?

RamblingRosa · 26/07/2012 08:43

Lauren?

RamblingRosa · 26/07/2012 08:43

Oh, sorry, just seen you've already thought of Lauren. Laurie is nice on it's own.

ggirl · 26/07/2012 08:44

Laurence

LeeCoakley · 26/07/2012 08:45

Why would you 'shorten' Lauren to Laurie? It's exactly the same length and syllables Grin Laurie is a lovely name in it's own right and not too popular at the moment.

laurz75 · 26/07/2012 08:45

I can only think of Lauren or Laurel. My dad's name is Lauri.

RamblingRosa · 26/07/2012 08:48

True LeeCoakley but lots of nickname versions of names are the same length. Jack is a nickname for John. Sally for Sarah. Same number of syllables.

Wiggy29 · 26/07/2012 08:48

Don't know if I'll persuade DP to have it on as the full name. Thanks for pointing out it's Lauri for a girl- that could have narrowly missed an embarrassing mistake! Not sure if girl or boy yet and do like the sound of it for a boy too. Thanks folks.

Laura?

LeeCoakley · 26/07/2012 08:50

Laurie for girls round here! And the spelling is nicer.

LemonTurd · 26/07/2012 08:58

I would just go with Laurie. Lovely name.

Sossiges · 26/07/2012 08:59

Laurinda

shimmy0 · 26/07/2012 09:00

No it's definitely Laurie for girls. Lauri with just the I at the end would be pronounced Laur-EYE and it's definitely not the plural of anything so Laurie is the correct spelling.
By the way it can be used as a version of the name Laura, though it's not a nickname of Laura

rachel234 · 26/07/2012 10:29

I know a Laurence, nickname Laurie. It is the female version of Laurent.

Alternatively Laura?

rachel234 · 26/07/2012 10:30

No, Lauri looks wrong. Laurie is much nicer for a girl!

BedHog · 26/07/2012 10:33

Lauri is a Finnish boys name.

ggirl · 26/07/2012 11:20

florence with nn lorrie

rachel234 · 26/07/2012 11:46

Lorrie? Sounds like Lorry Shock and is not very feminine imo.

Laurie much nicer imo.

BikeRunSki · 26/07/2012 11:48

Larrissa?

I love Florence for Laurie!

shouldbedoingtheironing · 26/07/2012 13:19

I only know boys called Laurie - is definitely a boys name in my opinion as I don't think it sounds feminine at all. Americans use it for females but it sounds different with their pronounciation and a Lorry isn't used to describe a big truck over there!

If you must use it for a girl then Larissa or Lorena might be other options..

rachel234 · 26/07/2012 17:47

Laurie looks and sounds very feminine to me.

For a boy Lawrence is nice.

thegreylady · 26/07/2012 17:54

Those of you familiar with Antonia Forrest's Marlowe books will remember the girl twin called Laurence known as Laurie. It is a great name.

rachel234 · 26/07/2012 18:16

Laurence is a very popular girls name in France.
