After lurking on many of the baby name threads I am wondering if any one else took our approach of not thinking of any and waiting until baby was born. both my Dds names were chosen after the birth and we had not thought about names until we met them.

we had thought of names but didnt pick one, we had a short list and actually they got names that were not on the short list! a few of ours didnt have names for a fortnight, so yes we thought about names but it didnt do much good!

Hats off to your pud. We couldn't have done that, it took us ages to decide! How did you decide when your DDs were born - did you name them in hospital or go away and look at some name books for a few days?

We had both of ours named the day of our 20 week scan (when we found out the gender) Smile.

Ditto refurb - our DDs had names from being about a 20-week old in-utero foetus! Brave of you, I think :)

We named them in hospital. I suppose I must have been taking notice of names I liked but never sat down with oh and discussed it.

We had a shortlist of a few we liked but didn't go with any of them. Took us about a day to choose one and it just came to us as we were staring at our son and we agreed it was perfect :)

We'd thought of names and written down ideas, but couldn't agree on one we both loved. When DS was born it took a week for us to decide, and then it wasn't one we'd previously thought of. We'd had a girl's name decided from the start, just had trouble with boy's names.

We're in the same boat again now, baby due in 6 weeks and can't find the perfect boy's name. If it's a girl she'll have the same name we chose for if DS was a girl - that will be a lot simpler!

We thought of names in advance for our first, we were more or less settled on a girls name but not a boy's so he didn't have a name for a few days. We didn't even think about it with the 2nd, we still had our girls names, but we were sure it was another boy - he didn't have a name for a week and a half.

We took 6 weeks to decide. The registrar even phoned us up to remind us. We didn't start thinking about names until after birth. The 2nd was a bit quicker mind. I romantically thought we'd be inspired after birth, but we found it really hard. These days naming a child is something that requires a lot of thought. How many people these days could consider sticking a pin in the holy book to find a name?

dd1 & ds1 were chosen in pregnancy, dd2 we didn't decide until she was born & ds2 we decided then changed our minds when he was born.
