Not liking as it sounds like tomorrow

Makes me think of Tomato. Sorry. Or perhaps the brand of some sort of new Japanese toy sensation along the lines of Pokemon.

I think she will be called Tomato at school.

It sounds nice to my ear and reminds me of a lovely Japanese girl I knew named Tomoko. I would expect a Tomoyo to have some connection to Japan and for people to assume that she was a boy on paper.

It's a bit too unusual I think. You'd probably have to have some connection to Japan to use it.

Agree with all that's been said upthread. One would have to be Japanese or have some link with Japan to use the name.
