Any thoughts on these names lovely MNetters? I love all of them but other half thinks Aurelia is too pretentious.

I think Indie is lovely, but I'm bias as DD2 is an Indie :)

LynetteScavo · 18/07/2012 18:14

Indie is a fabulous name!

I've never met one, though.

SquishyCinnamonSwirls · 18/07/2012 18:14

Aurelia is beautiful, it's my mil's name and when we have a dd it will be her middle name too. Definitely not pretentious.
I like the combination.

Oh how lovely Lynette, Kate and Squishy! Thank-you. Thats encouraging. Kate-does she get on well with the name or do people think she's India?

Forgot to say Aurelia is also lovely.

It was on my shortlist for DD (along with lots of other names beginging and ending in A Confused)

newby2 · 18/07/2012 18:24

Lynette, what did you call dd in the end?

I called my DD India, but often call her Indie. Lots of nice comments from other people on her name Smile

LynetteScavo · 18/07/2012 18:31

Don't want to give DD's name here, but it does begin and end in A, and suddenly became far too poplar for my liking! Grin

Leni75 · 18/07/2012 18:34

I have a friend with an Indigo, who is Indi and its a really lovely name, Aurelia is also nice, if its the middle name, surely DP won't mind too much?

newby2 · 18/07/2012 18:37

I like that name too Lynette but beginning with E instead of A. Indie Aurelia sounds nice. Ill have to work on him. Any other thoughts?

I love the name Indie. LOVE it.

I have nothing useful to add, I just like it Grin

KateShmate · 18/07/2012 20:26

Well shes actually an 'Indiana' - but has never ever been called that, so we wish that we'd just stuck to Indie.
Never had anyone thinking that she was an India.

She loves her name! I always think that it is the kind of name that could suit anyone - some names are super girly (think 'Petal') and may not always suit the child as they're growing/grown up, but I think Indie is a good al-rounder. FWIW, our's is totally crazy!

Its also a name that goes nicely with most middle names :)

KateShmate · 18/07/2012 20:27

Ooh another similar to Aurelia is Ariella - a friend named her DD Ariella and its just gorgeous!

oohdaddypig · 18/07/2012 20:49

I think India and Aurelia are beautiful beautiful names. Not too girlie, shouldn't date, (DH kb'd both of them for our DD unfortunately)

I like Indie as a nn but personally as a full name it wouldn't be my choice... I'd give her the option of shortening her own name.

sonniboo · 18/07/2012 20:57

Aurelia is pretty. What is pretentious about a pretty nameConfused?

Minstrelsaremarvellous · 18/07/2012 20:59

Aurelia was one of our choices for DD2 (for some reason she suited other name better) but we think it is gorgeous!

Stellan · 19/07/2012 09:25

Aurelia is very pretty - lovely.

I quite like India too but, as far as place names as given names go, I'd probably only use Florence (although I do like Verona and Cicely/Sicily).

I have only heard of Indie as a nickname for India or Indigo.

3bees · 19/07/2012 13:59

I think indie is lovely (dh veto'd it). Aurelian goes nicely. Dd1 has a mn I wouldn't have chosen but it's not generally used so doesn't make much difference.
I don't think you need a longer version. Indie is a name on its own (not too keen on India, indigo or Indiana personally)

newby2 · 19/07/2012 15:25

3bees, I like Indie better than India and Indigo too I think we're getting there with Indie Aurelia or Indie Emilia. She will have an interesting sir name too so altogether an interesting name hopefully!
