Just a random list of boys names which are circulating in my head for a possible DS2:

Elliot
Joseph
Xavier
Nicholas
Christian
Hugo

A bit of a mixed bag I know. DS1 is George. I want something which is not overly popular but doesn't scream "I am a pretentious wanker" either.

Thanks!

I like joseph (joe is nice too if it is shortened). I quite like hugo but will it have a surge in popularity due to the film?

Maybe not George and Elliot unless you're a big fan?

ginghamfish · 18/07/2012 07:36

Hugo - number 1. The rest all last.

Stellan · 18/07/2012 11:37

I'd put Joseph, Nicholas, Christian, and Hugo at the top of the list and Elliot and Xavier at the bottom.

I particularly like George and Nicholas as brothers.

tammytoby · 18/07/2012 11:39

I like Hugo, but was dissuaded by people saying it was too 'posh'. But maybe 'posh' names are becoming trendy?

I also like Elliot and Christian.

In order of preference:

Joseph
Christian
Nicholas
Hugo
Elliot
Xavier

In fact, Joseph and Christian are on our shortlist along with Nathan, Leon, and Dominic.

MrsJohnDeere · 19/07/2012 13:14

Nicholas
Christian
Hugo
Joseph
Xavier, Elliot joint bottom - don't like either, sorry!

birdofthenorth · 19/07/2012 13:19

Elliot (classic, lovely sound to it)
Christian (gorgeous, underused, like Kit as an nn)
Xavier (prefer the Zah pronunciation rather than Zay)
Nicholas (rare this days and gorgeous)
Joseph (lovely, nice nicknames, also love Jacob)

Then a big space

Then Hugo, which for some reason, I can't get board on at all with -sorry!!

HecateHarshPants · 19/07/2012 13:27

victoriassponge · 21/07/2012 18:39

Love Xavier.

Puremince · 21/07/2012 19:13

Joseph is a great name but "George and Joseph" is a bit of a tongue-twister. And "George and Elliot" sounds too close to the novelist. Especially if you go on to have DC3 and have "George, Elliot and ..."

So:
Nicholas
Christian
Joseph
Hugo
Elliot
Xavier.

phlebas · 21/07/2012 23:54

love:
Nicholas (lovelovelove)
Christian

like:
Hugo
Xavier

meh:
Joseph
Elliot

jaggythistle · 22/07/2012 00:01

Elliot
Joseph
Nicholas
Christian
Xavier
Hugo

the first 3 were on my list for dc2 but DH said nope.

Nathan and Leon as mentioned above were on my list for dc1 actually. :)

mamakubica · 22/07/2012 00:01

Xavier 100%

Ham69 · 22/07/2012 00:21

Xavier and Hugo were on my DS's list.
Mainly good names IMO.

Hugo
Xavier
Christian
Joseph
Elliot
Nicholas

persephoneplum · 22/07/2012 08:58
  1. Elliot
  2. Hugo

These two I quite like.

  1. Christian
  2. Xavier
  3. Joseph - the nickname Joe saves it... just.

All too religious for me.

No ranking - Nicholas - this is my most disliked name in the world - Knickerless, as in, without underpants. I have no idea why anyone would use this.

RuthlessBaggage · 22/07/2012 09:01
  1. Elliot
  2. Joseph
  3. Xavier

  5. Christian

shimmy0 · 22/07/2012 09:38

Xavier

Hugo

Joseph Christian and Nicholas may end up nicknamed by friends as Joe, Chris and Nick. I do not like Nick sorry, but Hugo is at the bottom as I have never liked how the name sounds.

I love Xavier, a lovely old name.

shimmy0 · 22/07/2012 09:39

Whoops I forgot to put Elliot on the list, but it would be between Joseph and Christian I think
