Alternative middle names for a girl

First MN post ever - hello all!

We are trying to choose a name for our daughter. The things already decided (well, almost certainly decided...) are:

  • First name to be Marianne
  • Two surnames - one-syllable then two-syllable - not double-barrelled
  • A one-syllable middle name
  • So it's going to be 'Marianne [Blank] [Dah] [Dah-dah]'

For the middle name, our top preferences so far are Claire and Fleur. So...
Marianne Claire [Dah] [Dah-dah] or
Marianne Fleur [Dah] [Dah-dah]?
Or something else?

Many thanks!

Hello, welcome, (I'm fairly new but finding lots of great advice!)
Those are nice names. Smile

Marianne May ?
Marianne Rose ?

It is quiet tricky choosing a name sometimes! some names we liked for our daughter totally clashed with our surname and some names we thought might stand out too much a bit hippyfied!

Good luck!

Marianne Dee Dah Da-Da?

TarteTatin27 · 13/07/2012 15:15

Many thanks alwaysworriedtoo! Sadly I think May is out, as our surnames start with the same letter so it would be too much alliteration. But Rose is charming.

Grin at hypoxia's suggestion.

Any further thoughts welcome...

I think Claire, Fleur and Rose are all lovely.

I like Marianne Claire, though.

Marianne Claire so she can be MC Dah Dahdah in the future.

Otherwise, something sassy with some meaning. Marianne Tor? Marianne Gene? Marianne Kiss?

TarteTatin27 · 14/07/2012 15:23

Thank you all for your help - and for the warm welcome to MN!
It looks like Marianne Claire is the winner...

Rose, May and Grace are the dull predictable middle names. Avoid at all costs!

Clair is lovely. But I think I prefer Fleur.

amck5700 · 14/07/2012 15:29

Joy
Leigh
Sue

why does it have to be monosyllabic?

Marianne Catherine dah dah-dah flows equally well I think

tum- ti - tum / tum - ti / tum / tum-tum /

Just noticed this...we have a Marianne Rose! Sounds gorgeous and looks beautiful written down. 'Rose' as a middle name is always getting a slagging on here but we didn't know it was so popular when we chose it. We thought it sounded lovely and old fashioned and it was also in memory of a much loved relative who died before DD was born. Whichever middle name you choose, Marianne is a fabulous first name. Good choice!
