I know a lovely little girl called Shanice and she is not in the least bit "chavy"

SugarBatty · 16/07/2012 07:32

I like it, its very 90's but 90's fashion is coming back in so why not!

YouOldSlag · 16/07/2012 07:33

Horrible. (sorry Whatever, I'm sure your Shanice is lovely!)

WhateverHappenedToWinceyWillis · 16/07/2012 07:52

I've killed that thread , I will just get back to polishing my gold chains, scrubbing my Burberry and getting ready for my visit from my probation officer.

YouOldSlag · 16/07/2012 07:54

Phew! I thought you were serious.

EightiesChick · 16/07/2012 08:04

Another person who immediately thinks of the inane 90s hit. Though kids these days won't know it at all. I don't like it.

WhateverHappenedToWinceyWillis · 16/07/2012 18:06

No I was being serious . Just making the point that perhaps people may be a little less rude about a name given to a child when they remember that people may have lovingly called their child that name.

YouOldSlag · 16/07/2012 18:24

Oh, sorry Wincey. Blush

DontEatTheVolesKids · 16/07/2012 18:37

How would you say it? Shuh-NIECE?
Shanaze is cool, might become fashionable if Reade gets gold medal.

AgathaTrunchbull · 16/07/2012 20:09

Might I point out that of course people are aware that other people have actually named their children the name in question? However, if we were mendaciously nice about every name because there are already children called that, no one would ever get any honest feedback.

Shanice is horrid.

WhateverHappenedToWinceyWillis · 16/07/2012 20:18

There is a different between being nice and being deliberately mean.

AgathaTrunchbull · 16/07/2012 20:23

Deliberately mean to whom, exactly? As far as I could see, people were just expressing their views honestly about a name. That's what the thread's for...

Springforward · 16/07/2012 20:34

It's a no from me too, I'm afraid.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 16/07/2012 20:53

I think that saying you think a name is horrible is ok, it's when the chavvy word gets bandied about its mean. It's not really necessary.

Booette · 16/07/2012 20:59

It's ok, but really not a name I'd chose. But I'm not you! There is a girl at the boys school called Shanice, perfectly nice little girl.

SugarBatty · 16/07/2012 21:12

What about kelis? Dd friend has this name and its similar but more unusual.

WhateverHappenedToWinceyWillis · 16/07/2012 21:39

I agree pickles . I can think of lots of names that I don't like and I may say so on a thread such as this. I would not throw around offensive terms like Chav.

WetAugust · 16/07/2012 22:06

Vile , vile name.

exoticfruits · 16/07/2012 22:10

Sounds made up-horrible.

twonker · 16/07/2012 22:10

I like the name shanice. Also shana.

CecilyP · 16/07/2012 22:11

And it's a no from me too!

Viviennemary · 16/07/2012 22:12

It's dire. Sorry. Is it a made up name.

SugarBatty · 16/07/2012 22:21

A made up name as opposed...?! Hmm

SugarBatty · 16/07/2012 22:21

*to

BigHairyFlowers · 16/07/2012 22:23

Great. Now I have 'I Love Your Smile' superglued into my head.
