Anna or Hannah?

I post on here all the time but that is because I am indecisive. Mostly about girls - we have decided on a boy's name. I am not due until Dec so expect many more posts...

Anyway at the moment it is Anna or Hannah - what do you prefer? Anna is new testment and Hannah is old testament and as a rule I prefer Old testament names but that is perhaps a little silly.

I prefer Anna - I have no idea why!

Yellowchair · 11/07/2012 10:46

Anna much nicer

RubyGrace17 · 12/07/2012 20:19

I prefer Anna. I taught a lovely little Anna in my second year of teaching. The name always makes me smile :)

Both lovely names, I prefer Hannah but agree with the post above that it does seem popular.

littleweed10 · 14/07/2012 20:59

Hannah! I am one, and can attest as a 70s baby has been fine Grin

littleweed10 · 14/07/2012 21:01

Ps I answer to Anna and Helen - and come from a place where it can be pronounced 'annah - mildly annoying but I like Anna too so doesn't fuss me.

harverina · 14/07/2012 21:06

I prefer Anna.

When I was pregnant I wanted Anna, my DH wanted Hannah. Believe it or not neither of us was willing to compromise despite the names being so similar so we chose a completely different name. If I have another girl Anna would be high on my list!

happyhorse · 14/07/2012 21:06

Anna is much nicer.

EBDTeacher · 14/07/2012 21:06

I like both. To me Hannah sounds Jewish and Anna sounds Russian. Neither connotation puts me off.

DottieRose · 15/07/2012 12:49

Anna...simple and sweet!

RightUpMyRue · 15/07/2012 20:14

Hannah, no competition.

Doilooklikeatourist · 15/07/2012 20:17

Anna

TheTeardropExplodes · 15/07/2012 20:17

Anna.

BigBandwitch · 15/07/2012 20:21

I prefer Anna

cahu · 15/07/2012 22:18

Definitely Anna....elegant.

pickletray · 20/07/2012 14:50

Both are lovely but I'd agree that Anna is the one a bit less used a the moment. I kind of like the look of it written down. Seems fresh and nice.

Strangely, Anna makes me think of the colour red: Apples and roses, and a pretty girl with red ribbons and rosy cheeks.

If you live in an area where everyone drops their H's it'd be pronounced "Anna" anyway.

ExitPursuedByABear · 20/07/2012 15:00

I used to stay on a farm in North Wales where the two daughters were called Hannah and Annie Confused

Prefer Hannah (as I a have one Grin)

GoodHeavensNo · 20/07/2012 15:10

Prefer Anna, although Hannah is nice too.

sonniboo · 20/07/2012 15:34

OP, choose the name YOU prefer!

I prefer Anna (and have one) but Hannah is absolutely fine too Smile.

Dogsmom · 20/07/2012 16:09

I like both too but probably prefer Anna, you may find people drop the first 'H' anyway when they pronounce it, I like Helena but know it's end up being Elena and then Ellie which I'm not keen on.

marge2 · 20/07/2012 16:13

Hannah.

AnnaFender · 20/07/2012 18:07

Rather than dropping the H in Hannah, people seem to add an H to my Anna and often call her Hannah Confused

grammar · 20/07/2012 18:09

Too many Hannahs around, that may not be a problem but I prefer Anna

CapuccinoCannoliLover · 20/07/2012 18:11

I like Anna
