four letter boy names, help please :)

I have a nearly 5yo ds and 3yo dd, both names are four letters --Jack and Lola--

Me and dp decided we'd like dc3 to have 4 letter name, girl is covered as I'm using my late Grandmas name Lily.

So I like;

Noah (dp hates it), Finn (too different for dd and ds names), Theo (not good for an adult), Zach (too much like ds' name)

So help! Please. I'm 16wks but its stressing me out there's nothing --except Noah-- I love.

I don't particularly like or dislike the name Noah but I think your idea of Noah Alexander James is lovely. Go for it.

5madthings · 09/07/2012 12:00

why cant an adult be a theo? there are plenty that are, one of whom is an england player, hasnt done him any harm? i have a theodore, who is theo 99% of the time.

rudi or rudy
arlo
milo
tate, i really like that and it would have been dd's middle name had she been a boy.

StateofConfusion · 09/07/2012 12:49

5mad should have put in op all the 'issues' with names are dps. I love theodore but we agreed it seemed to big with jack and lola, I said theo he said no. He's driving me insane!!

Finn is growing on me, but I keep going back to Noah, although it does sound similar to Lola hmm this is hard work! It was So easy with dc1 how do people manage with big familys!!

apocalypse I love your names, they sound lovely together. Dc1 and 2s initials actually spell JAW and LEG (minus the surname initial) we get some stick for that and what body part will this one be.

Noah is nice though, can you find out what about it he doesn't like and work on that?

StateofConfusion · 09/07/2012 15:17

amck Grin

My friend has a 3yo called stanley and it really suits him but there's a nasty stan in my step dads family who was always horrid to me so I just couldn't use it.

I've decided as much as I like Zach I can't have it with Jack as they will never know who I'm talking to.

Going to talk to dp about Noah tonight, knowing him its a crap reason like his 'dislike' for most names, ie, alfie is from eastenders, he's not usually so fecking weird and awkward thankfully!

Right now I love Noah Alexander James, Finn and Theo.

Oi - I said Drew yesterday!! :)

StateofConfusion · 09/07/2012 15:37

I get lost amongst the sheer number of names here Blush this is dc3 my brains practically cabbage!

Dp said no to Drew, he's called Andrew and said it would make him look big headed.

I've told him at this rate it will be Noah as he's yet to give a reason other than sheer mindedness.

Ah it's okay, just teasing!!

lol tell your OH to get on here then and get a name sorted!! I know how he feels though as we definitely didn't want to do the handing down name thing either.

My younger son is Ciar which has 4 letters but is Gaelic so wouldn't really fit with your other names. Have we said Rory before??

StateofConfusion · 09/07/2012 15:50

Cool name :)

I'm very wary of them all fitting together as ds and dd are very close in age and have been a pair for so long, it seems most odd adding a name to them iyswim. I am only 16wks but the names important and I like to know it a while as ds was prem and knowing he was Jack helped me bond some how when he was rushed to nicu and I didn't see him for some time.

I will nag him tonight when the dcs are in bed, as dd wants to call it super rabbit so there input is not to helpful.

We had a list for my first son and ended up discarding them all when he was born and starting again - he had a name after 3 days! We had a girls name picked out but he stubbornly refused to be a girl :) we didn't bother ro think about names for No 2 as we were still happy with the girls name (mine are only 13 months apart!) but we knew deep down that it was another boy. Anyway, be didn't have a name for a week and a half!!

At one point my OH said we could use the name we didn't use for No1 - but a. I think that's a weird thing to do and b. It was Gregor which I really liked, but we'd called no 1 Craig and Craig and Gregor was a bit of a toungue twister!!

I hope you find something you like - might be better to forget about the 4 letter thing and just find a name you like just for itself though.

FadingAwayToAHippo · 09/07/2012 20:02

No other suggestions as they've already been mentioned, just wanted to say I have a company (if you will) named after your kids :)

They are good names ;)

Nikkim30 · 09/07/2012 20:06

Liam

StateofConfusion · 09/07/2012 20:07

Why thank you hippo I think they're pretty brilliant names too Grin

I'm working on him with Noah as regardless of the four letter theme I adore it. I can imagine my child as Noah and using the name etc. But I can equally Zach, that wouldn't be good with Jack though would it?

StateofConfusion · 09/07/2012 20:08

Really like Liam but it was a rather nasty ex's name.
