Whose name/DCs' names have never been mentioned here, and...?

Thread inspired by the 'Names You Hate' thread. Has your name, or the name of your child, NEVER been mentioned on this forum (getting negative or positive comments) and if so, are you glad or sorry?

My three-month-old baby's name has never come up, though I don't think of it as in any way obscure (Biblical boy's name, and nothing like Habbakuk Grin). Don't know whether I'm relieved or feel left out!

You should be relieved, Charlotte Smile.

My childrens' names have both come up, one being described as 'common', the other 'poncy' Grin. No one name will ever be loved by everyone!!

Dudeypantsmum · 04/07/2012 22:46

As of yet my little mans name has not made an appearance! I am sure it will as it is becoming increasingly popular in America.

I know what camp his name will be in over here and I can't wait to rip into anyone who decides he is unable to have a prosperous future due to their small mindedness!

I did not choose his name but it who he is and it is his.

CharltonHairstyle · 04/07/2012 22:48

My DD's name hasn't come up on either side.

It does end with an 'ee' sound which people get all upset about but it's never been named Smile

SPsFanjoLovesRussellHoward · 04/07/2012 22:50

My sons name didn't come up but I mentioned it and knew there were people wanting to say something. My name is common apparently.

The letter K isn't liked!

chipmonkey · 04/07/2012 23:14

My ds4's name has been trashed as "common"
Dd's name was trashed by a MNer who lives in France and said that no French child would ever be called dd's name as it was a "bluestocking" name. dd had just died and I found it irrationally hurtful.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 04/07/2012 23:16

Damned by the letter k rule here... But it is also a boring name which lots of children will be called!

Dd2 has a name which has been tipped as feisty once, but that's all for her.

SPsFanjoLovesRussellHoward · 04/07/2012 23:26

chip I don't know what a blue stocking name is but that is terrible saying things about your daughter's name. Sorry to hear of your loss.

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 04/07/2012 23:26

My name's been one once or twice but don't think DD's has, not with her spelling anyway.

PedanticPanda · 04/07/2012 23:33

My sons name hasn't been mentioned before.

chipmonkey · 04/07/2012 23:33

Sorry, have to stress the MNer in question didn't know (or I don't think she did!) what dd's name was or that she had died. And I knew when I named her that not everyone would love it. But it still hurt and I don't like so see any name slated here as some Mums will be in the same situation as me.

YodasMummy · 05/07/2012 09:28

My name hasn't been mentioned... probably because its freakish and Welsh :-)

manicinsomniac · 05/07/2012 09:32

My older daughter's doesn't come up very often (Savannah) but when it does it is generally termed as trashy and common.

My younger daughter's comes up all the time (Jessica) and is usually either recevied favourably or called boring.

It doesn't bother me though. There are lots of names I love and quite a lot I don't like and I have no problem saying either way.

Mechavivzilla · 05/07/2012 09:47

Mine has never come up. But it is rather unusual and I love it. I was named after the midwife who delievered me. V I V I K A.

Agree with Chip though (as always!). There are names I don't like, but I would be very wary trashing any name on a public forum. They are all meaningful and loved by someone!

Greige · 05/07/2012 10:06

My name and DD's name have both come up, quite well liked iirc, DD is Sadie.

DS's name, however, I don't expect will ever come up as it is one of the more unusual Irish names. He is called Donnchadh (pr Dunaka). Btw, DP is Irish and we live in Ireland, I didn't just pick it out of a book!

CherryBlossom27 · 05/07/2012 10:10

I think my name was mentioned in possible baby names for Alex Reid and Chantelle Houghtons little girl......not an MN name but I couldn't care less - I like my name :)

ChunkyMonkeyMother · 05/07/2012 10:16

What's weird is that my DS has a ridiculously common name - I have had to create a nickname and everything because every time we go out there's at least 3 of them! But I've never heard it mentioned on here! I think a lot of people are just nonchalant about it now.

My name hasn't cropped up either, but again it was very common in my era - all through school there was at least 4 of us - and I'm not a Sarah ha ha its a strange phenomenon

DawnOfTheDee · 05/07/2012 10:18

Neither mine or DD's name have come up. Mine because it's just not in fashion at the moment (wasn't when i was born actually....all the other people i know with my name are approx 15 years older than me).

My DD's name is not in fashion either but it's not common at all (but without being odd iyswim).

I do feel a bit left out actually although if DD's name did come up i think it might be a bit of a marmite one - though when i tell people in RL they love it or that's what they say to my face anyway

weasar · 05/07/2012 10:47

Don't have DC yet, but the only time my planned future DDs name has come up is when I asked for opinions on it. In general, it wasn't particularly well received but I don't care - I will use it anyway (If I have a DD that is!) Grin

oikopolis · 06/07/2012 00:31

my name has never been mentioned on this board afaik. it's Biblical but obscure. much more popular in the US than anywhere else.

i would think anyone who liked it needed their head read in any case. i am always the first to trash my name.

nooka · 06/07/2012 07:13

Both my children's names come up regularly (well generally the common shortenings rather than the full name) ds's name boomed in popularity a year or two after he was born and dd's short name has pretty much always been quite popular. I did an advanced search on my name once and I think it has been mentioned twice (and I was very surprised!)

ilovemybum · 06/07/2012 10:01

My name has popped up as a thread topic. DS has such an un common name that it has never been mentioned here.
