I think we finally have a shortlist and just wanted some opinions please.

Bit of info, we don't know whether we are having a boy or girl but we have our girls name down to 2. We have ds called jacob but are really struggling to agree on a boys name. Shortlist we kind of agree on is:
Noah
Caleb
Nathaniel
Sebastian

Middle name is likely to be james.
Which do you think is best and can you suggest any others.
Thanks

I love the last two, not keen on the first two.

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 04/07/2012 21:40

Me too one of the last two for me.

shoobidoo · 04/07/2012 21:48

I like Caleb.

Sebastian and Nathaniel will end up as Seb and Nat - as long as you're happy with that.

Yourefired · 04/07/2012 21:50

Last two here as well. Suggest Christian?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/07/2012 21:53

I like them all except Caleb.

Matthias
Isaac
Thaddeus

jellyspoon · 04/07/2012 21:54

I think thats why I have doubts on the last 2 shoobidoo, I don't really like seb and prefer nate but can't see nate as a little boy.
Can't use christian as its a good friends name. Its so hard. Thanks for suggestions

Are you me?! Our name lists are identical!

We have a Jacob and we now have a little Nathaniel known as Nate.

He's never been called Nat or Nathan by anyone (even the dozy Dr's receptionist) so don't worry about people getting it wrong!

EdithWeston · 04/07/2012 22:01

I think Nathaniel is the nicest by quite a way, with Noah and Sebastian as runners up.

jellyspoon · 04/07/2012 22:07

Thanks mrclaypole thats made me like nathaniel a little more, I think it def goes with jacob, I like shortening names so just have to get used to using nate. My fav is reuben but dh hates it.

I like Caleb. Caleb James sounds lovely.

Nathaniel is nice but will probably be shortened - Nat, Nate or Nathan?

Sebastian is ok but I don't like Seb/Sebby (sebacious = oily) nor Bastian (too close to bastard).

rachel234 · 04/07/2012 22:08

Reuben is lovely too!

Or how about Cassian, Quentin or Tristan - all sound great with middle name James imo.

jellyspoon · 04/07/2012 22:15

Thanks for suggestions Rachel234 none of them are jumping out at me though.

I like Nathaniel best, then Sebastian.

James would be great as a first name too (seems very popular as a middle name).

Littlecherublegs · 05/07/2012 14:26

Love Nathaniel! Nathan is on our shortlist.

Like the others too - probably in this order:
Nathaniel
Sebastian
Caleb
Noah

Others on our shortlist are:
Dominic
Leon
Haydn / Aidan
Joseph

Devora · 05/07/2012 14:28

I like the first two. And Leon, Seth, Silas, Joel, Isaac, Amos, Solomon, Moses, Reuben, Sam

amck5700 · 05/07/2012 19:49

Aaron?

TodaysAGoodDay · 05/07/2012 19:51

I like Caleb and Dominic most. Nice choice of names OP.

AliBean · 05/07/2012 19:57

Your list is practically the same as mine...

Not keen on Caleb, but the rest are the same!

My DS is called Gabriel so I shall throw that into the mix as we obviously have similar taste in names!

When is your baby due? My DS2 is due in November so we have plenty of time to decide...

jellyspoon · 05/07/2012 21:24

Dh really wants gabriel but i'm not sure. Thanks for suggestions everyone.
I like issac and will add that to our list. I'm due end of september so still have quite a bit of time to decide, I think i'm just struggling to find a name thats fits as we don't know what we are having. X
