I love Helene followed by Alice and Sophie although I prefer Sophia. Not keen on Valentine, Mila and Julie. Smile

Littlecherublegs · 03/07/2012 13:43

Sophie is my favourite.

Helene and Alice are ok, though not keen on the others.

AdventuresWithVoles · 03/07/2012 14:00

Alice.

I suppose Valentine sounds pretentious.

VolAuVent · 03/07/2012 14:00

I like Julie and Sophie best.

mayanna123 · 03/07/2012 14:01

Love Valentine, although prefer Valentina - love that!

Julie would be Yulie in German.

jkklpu · 03/07/2012 14:02

Alice
have you thought of Lucie?

birdofthenorth · 03/07/2012 14:32

Are you pronouncing Mila like Millla or like Mia?

Like Alice but lots around

Like Julie but prefer Juliet

Love Valentine

CapuccinoCannoliLover · 03/07/2012 14:35

I really like Milla. I am due soon (sex unknown) and my fav names are all French/German!

TheWave · 03/07/2012 14:38

Like Helena. Helene would be sort of pronounced like this in German wouldn't it? Might have to consider Valentina for the same reason.

dillnameddog · 03/07/2012 21:26

Sophie - too common (as in overused)
Alice - I like it
Julie - terrible 70s name
Helene - gorgeous. I would definitely go for this one.
Mila - ok
Valentine - prefer Valentina, but don't like it much.

MarshmallowFarm · 03/07/2012 21:30

Alice and Sophie the most interchangeable (and I think nicest...) of all of those in terms of all three countries...

Other suggestions that work in all three lnaguages: how about Anna or Emma (Ema)/Emilie/Emilia - or Laura?/Isabelle/Isabella

pullupapew · 03/07/2012 21:32

I consider valentine to be a boy's name, Sophie is top of the popularity lists, the rest I like, Helene and Julie are my faves from your list

sonniboo · 03/07/2012 22:15

I really like Valentine/Valentina as well as Helene/Helena.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/07/2012 22:19

Helene is lovely and I like Alice. Don't like Valentine or Mila at all, sorry. Julie isn't v nice but Julia and Juliet are.

ceeveebee · 03/07/2012 23:00

I like Sophie, Alice and Helene.

Not keen on Julie, it's a bit 1970s. Julia nice though.

Mila and Valentine sound like boy's names

lisaro · 03/07/2012 23:18

Hate Valentine. Don't like Mila. Julie is dated but ok. Love the others.

Lannie33 · 04/07/2012 01:55

I like them all except don't like Valentine. I disagree that Julie is dated, I know Julie's of all ages. If I had to choose for my own child, I'd go with Mila, only because Sophie is so popular/overused, but they're all pretty.

fondantfancier · 04/07/2012 05:52

I always thought Valentine was the male version and Valentina the female verison.
Helene is the best

sonniboo · 04/07/2012 07:02

In German (French) the female form of Valentina (Valentine) is Valentin.

language · 04/07/2012 11:26

Thanks for your opinions! It looks like Alice and Helene are the favourites of lovely MN ladies :-)
