Do you like this name? It was invented by an 18th century playwright

My dh got a permanent job after years of contracts when a lady called Dorinda vacated a post! So I like it.

RubyFakeNails · 28/06/2012 21:21

Sorry I think it's awful. It doesn't sound right, it sort of doesn't exactly role off the tongue. Think it sounds to made up like those names where they take change the first letter

Also are you Asian or Sikh? Admittedly it's not spelt in the same way but I pronounce like my Sikh friends names Narinder, Davinder, Jasminder etc

What other names do you like? How do you pronounce it? What accent is it most likely to be said in?

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 28/06/2012 21:22

I was picked on one at school so I hate it. Her aside, I think it is an ugly, clunky name. Sorry.

Wasn't one of the characters in "The Worst Witch" called Dorinda? Or am I thinking of "The Wizard of Oz?"
Or maybe that was Glinda.

I don't like it - It sounds very dumpy(too many Ds) to me, like a mix of Doreen and Linda.
