I met a Tansy a couple of weeks ago which I thought was very cool, I had never heard it before but thought it was very funky. Apparently its an old name?

TBH I don't really know what you mean by funky. DD1 and particularly DD2's school is a goldmine of unusual names.

I have to admit a secret soft spot for names which aren't really names at all - I use a large US forum and have seen the following names for girls which I think are incredibly arty and funky (if maybe a bit impractical and contrived): Journey, Harbour, Echo, Lark, Lyric, Cedar, Henna, Aster, Veda, Aspen, Sailor.

The coolest girl I know is a 9 yr old called Lindy. It's not her name that is cool - she makes her name cool cos' of her amazing fantastic personality. You could call her Eileen and she'd still be funky. Because that is what she is.
