For a boy, short for Nathaniel?

I can really picture it for a teenage boy, but not sure if it works for a baby?

I think it's lovely - for a baby too.

Johnnydeppsnewmrs · 27/06/2012 19:42

I like Nate as a NN.

Olive28 · 27/06/2012 20:20

Very nice.

HolyCameraConfusionBatman · 27/06/2012 20:23

Love it

sparkle12mar08 · 27/06/2012 20:38

Very nice, know a few.Better than Nat as a shortening.

Booette · 27/06/2012 20:58

Lovely!

LetsKateWin · 27/06/2012 21:02

I don't like it, but I think you should use it if it's what you want. People have commented on here that DD's name is boring, but it bothers me not one jot. The name means a lot to DP and I and it's a variation of a name I've always loved.

PeazlyPops · 27/06/2012 21:02

I love Nate, it was on my shortlist for DS, but DH thought it sounded too much like a nickname and wanted it to be Nathan shortened to Nate.

I wasn't keen on Nathan, so we went with something else.

LetsKateWin · 27/06/2012 21:03

Or should that be 'DP and me'? Don't want to be ripped apart by the pedants Grin

DangerMousey · 27/06/2012 21:35

Thanks guys. I actually prefer Nathan as the full name- but it sort of rhymes with our surname so I thought Nathaniel would work instead - and means we could use the same nice NN :-)

I have a toddler Nathaniel who is known as Nate. I (obviously!) love it.

Whitershadeofpale · 27/06/2012 22:57

It's my number one boys name and I like Nathaniel much more than Nathan.

Littlecherublegs · 28/06/2012 13:57

Nathan is out tops boys name at the moment, love it!

Love Nathaniel too though our suranme is quite long so I think we'd stick with Nathan.

As for nn, I do like Nate but DH not as keen - neither or us like Nat though so he'd probably get called Nath.

FunnysInLaJardin · 28/06/2012 13:59

love it.
