Which do you prefer, is Leonora a bit much? Aurora too disney? Any opinions would help loads, thanks.

Love Lenore, with an 'e' as it's a bit less frilly, but bastard fabric conditioner has rather put the kibosh on it. In fact I wanted a Lenore and a Flora...

Aurora forsure. Leonora paints a picture in my mind of an overly tanned lady with leathery skin and lots of gold jewelery...ala Benidorm

They are both pretty but real mouthfuls. Think I prefer Leanora as it's slightly easier to say...fewer vowels together.

I love the name Aurelia (although, come to think of it, it's not that easy to say either..). Mmmm.

tammytoby · 28/06/2012 22:06

Love both but slightly prefer Leonora.

mathanxiety · 29/06/2012 16:47

Yes Aurora is too Disney. Leonora far nicer imo.

Keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 29/06/2012 17:03

I like Aurora.
That was going to be my DD1's name all through my teen years. Gone off it a bit now though.
I am liking Leonora though - never heard that before.

Fireandashes · 30/06/2012 16:40

Of the two I much prefer Aurora, but if your DD or anyone in the family has difficulty pronouncing their 'R's it's going to sound a bit strange and babyish.

Mintyy · 30/06/2012 16:59

Leonora by miles.

AuntyMo · 30/06/2012 18:14

Aurora is just lovely.

CherryCheesecake · 30/06/2012 18:17

My 5mo dd is aurora. We can her rora instead of rory. I love it because of northern lights :) and sleeping beauty, but I discovered not many people know that that's sleeping beauty's name Smile

CherryCheesecake · 30/06/2012 18:21

It's not that difficult to say once you're used to it either. Unless you silly like us and call her aurora Leigh..,

clinkclink · 30/06/2012 20:23

Leonora is lovely. I do like Aurora too, but my best friend can't pronounce her rs and put me off it by saying Aworwa!

Leftwingharpie · 01/07/2012 09:42

Aurora is one of my favourite names. DH would never allow it!

fireice · 01/07/2012 09:45

I prefer Aurora. Aurelia is lovely too.

holyfishnets · 01/07/2012 20:37

Aurora is stunning!

Hamishbear · 02/07/2012 13:56

Leonora - classic, stunning and only used by posh people for some reason. V underused and misunderstood.

Aurora - name of ship that heralded Russian Revolution (? or something like that) or Disney princess.

No contest IMO. Leonora wins.

Will be known as Leo though...there are worse nms.

TheGrandOldDuke · 15/07/2012 20:09

Is it difficult to pronounce purely from the 'auwowa' aspect if they can't say their 'r's? Or am I not understanding how it's said?? 'a-roar-a'?

tara0202 · 15/07/2012 20:13

I really like both but especially love Aurora

SilkStalkings · 15/07/2012 22:08

I find Aurora quite a mouthful and feel a bit self-conscious saying it out loud.

Leonora on the other hand has lovely poetic flow.

SilkStalkings · 15/07/2012 22:10

There's also the French name Léontine ( pron Layonteen) and Léonie if you like the lion theme.
